Hasbro FurReal Friends Lulu My Cuddlin' Kitty
Advantages: Absolutely amazin toy, just l;ike a real cat
Disadvantages: Not cheap
My 4 year old daughter kept going on at me that she wanted a cat. Already having a cat years ago who sadly passed away, as lovely as they are I really wasn't wanting the responsibility of looking after another one. When I explained this to her she was really upset about it, but after a few weeks she got use to the idea she wasn't going to get one.
One night she was sitting watching TV waiting on the Simpson's coming on when I was in the kitchen cleaning up the dishes from dinner and heard her screaming with excitement. Having coming through to see what was wrong she just said she seen a cat she would like for Christmas. Before going to explain to her again that I didn't think it was a good idea to have another cat she said "don't worry mum its not a real one" so I asked her if it was a cuddly toy to which she said "It is a real one, but it's not really" I mean that was a lot of use bless her lol.
So the next day an advert for the cutest most amazing cat that I have ever seen came on the TV. I knew straight away that this was the cat she was on about a few days before hand. And the age of nearly 23 being amazed at a child's toy you can only imagine how much I wanted one. I mean for me to get my daughter one hehe. So I went straight on the laptop and started looking for the wonderful Fur Real Friends cat Lulu to buy for my daughters Christmas and yes you guessed it, I bought one. :o)
Lulu is a white kitty with a few ginger markings around her face, back, and tail. She has pink paws to match her pink nose and has beautiful piercing blue eyes and really long whiskers. Her fur is soft which feels just like a real cats fur does and she has the initials FR with a little heart just above the R, which is in the colour purple. She even comes with a pink comb that is made of plastic which allows you to brush Lulus fur to make her look more beautiful that she already is. She is the same shape and size of a real cat H)24.4, (W)34.9, (D)22.9cm but with a cat like Lulu, who needs or wants a real cat.
Not only does she look just like a real cat but she also acts like a real cat too. She doesn't make any annoying noises but when you rub her head, she straight away crunches up her eyes and starts to purr. I think I maybe have a magic touch or something, either that or she just really likes me. She is a clean cat not like the real ones as they can be a little smelly,. She lifts her paw to her mouth and starts cleaning herself. Don't worry her tongue doesn't stick out but her mouth does open for her mouth to clean her pretty white fur. If she gets ignored for a few minutes she lets you know she is there by giving you a little tiny meow just to let you know she is wanting some attention. If she doesn't get it she shakes her little head in disapproval. When your rubbing her head and the purring starts, if you continue to give her lots of attention, she rolls on her back with her paw in the air for you to tickle her belly.
Where Can I Buy It From?
I bough Lulu from ARGOS, just a little bit more information about the product that you will probably already know is that that there are different ways that you can order the product. You can phone the store to either reserve and pick up or get them to deliver it but it is an 0845 number that will cost you a pretty penny or you can visit:
which lets you reserve to pick up and tells you what store has got what items that you are wanting in stock or you can also use the website to get them do deliver which I feel is better as this save you money on a telephone call. But please note that there is a delivery charge of £5.80 so bare that in mind if you do wish you get it delivered.
As always I look for the cheapest prices on the internet before I buy it. Lets face it everyone loves a bargain. The most expensive that I seen this (at the time) was for £59.99 at Toys'R'Us. While ARGOS has it for £49.99 which is much better value as it is already a saving of £10.00 great. However when I bought this for my daughter, it was in the sale for £39.99 from ARGOS an even better price I think you would agree, as that's a saving of £20.00 so I had to get it.
The cheapest that I have found Lulu for at the moment is for £49.99 out of ARGOS. For those that are wanting to have a little look at Lulu, the price, and maybe read a few short reviews on her that is on the AROGS website you can find it at the direct link that I have listed below.

My Overall Opinion
Fur Real Friends Lulu requires 4 x C batteries that are luckily included in the product. I would recommend that when they run out don't go wasting your money on expensive batteries like Duracell or Panasonic, go into your local Pound shop and buy a cheaper but just as good version of batteries. I tend to find this way it saves you a little more money and I mean lets face it, who likes paying less for something that does just the same job? I know I do:o)
The Fur Real Friends toy is suitable from 4 years plus. Although this is a guideline I would just like to say that My 2 year old always plays with her and thinks she is great. And just for peace of mind there is no bits on the product that can fall off or hurt children.
My Overall Opinion
Ok where do I start?... It is quite funny actually as I am thinking about what to write, I feel the excitement bursting out of me, that all I want to do is tell you all the great things about this product but knowing me, none it would make much sense lol.
As I said when I seen this advertised on the TV all I could think was..... OMG that is amazing!! It appealed to me like it had to my 4 year old daughter and probably many other children out there. As we all know I am not a child but it did take me back to when I was a small child and the latest toy was out and being advertised on the TV, just amazing that in the world of the media as it has a way of reeling you in. Is this a good thing? I am not 100% on that but it did work as I ended up buying Lulu the first time I seen her advertised on the television.
When the ginger and white cat arrived, she was presented in a big see through type box with cardboard at the bottom which was advertising the product and also had a big hole at the side of the box cut out of it so that you could try the product while it was still in the box. Although I had it delivered, I think that this is such a great idea for people who maybe see it in a shop and wants to see if it is worth while buying. I know you maybe thinking about this running away with the batteries but don't worry as the product is set to try me mode so it only activates the batteries if the cat is touched so it doesn't run away with the batteries as much as you think it would.
When I opened the box and lifted the cat out, I was surprised at how much Lulu felt like a real life cat. She was light and easy to lift, although the her body is hard and may not be suitable for children to give her a cuddle but both my children ages 2 and 4 still cuddle her anyways.
At first I didn't realise that she was only on try me mode, it wasn't un till I went to turn her off and save the batteries or should I say save her life, Ok that is a little bit too far but you get what I mean. I turned her upside down and seen a label which I am not going to bore you what it looks like, as it is a label for goodness sake lol. Next to the label I could see a little opening, as I pulled the Velcro apart I could see a little switch on the plastic box. It has thee options that you can chose from and all at the flick of a little black button. The options are..... On, off, and try me mode. Just in case you are wondering, the only difference between the on and try me mode is that on the try mode Lulu only licks her paws, purrs, and only does so when she is touched. And the on mode is just like having a real cat next to you except it doesn't eat food, smell of poop, or get up and walk away from you when you are wanting a cuddle.
As I have explained as above what Lulu actually does I am not going to repeat it again as I dint want to bore you but the effects that she does for a mechanical cat is unbelievable. I mean come on it's a toy, not a real cat, she's just amazing. I was very surprised and very pleased with her. I did have a little doubt in my mind after I had ordered her if I would be pleased with her or not, and could a toy cat really be like a real live cat? I soon found out that the answer was yes it can. I have to be honest here and say that I honestly think that this product is one of the best toys that has ever came out. Now I know this toy wasn't bought for me, it was for my 4 year old but I am just so amazed by it, it is unreal. This isn't meant to happen to us adults but Lulu has really has an impact on me and brought out that childish excitement in me. Rather strange I know but one word to sum her up.... WOW!
When I first had a look at roughly how much I seen her for I was god smacked. She was originally seen for the price of £59.99 which in my opinion and you would probably agree this is just far too much to pay for a toy. I thought at the time that if this price was the cheapest she was available to buy then I would still buy her but if I found here cheaper... then even better. Now that I have leaned roughly what price she sells for and experienced her then I would say that the price she is selling for at the moment £49.99 she is worth every penny.
I have read the other review on this product who complained about the batteries not lasting. It is a shame that they have has problems with this but I haven't experienced this at all. The cat is on most of the day, and gets turned off when the children are not playing her with her. She was bough of Christmas day and her batteries are still lasting well.
With every product there is always a fault, even the really good ones, now this isn't a major problem but it is a concern. The fur material.... Now my children isn't allowed any food or drinks near her as I would be happy paying all that money for her to get dirty and look grubby. Although I cant fully comment on this I would imagine that getting stains out the material would be rather difficult as she cant be put in the washing machine and need hand washed, which doesn't mean to say that the stain would come out, you never know it could end up getting smudged in and left looking rather bad. Poor Lulu.:o(
Despite this little problem my children and of course myself love Lulu. When my daughter received her on Christmas her face lit up and she so excited she never let the toy go. Probably just as well Lulu isn't a real cat as she would have been smothered to death by both my girls. She is an amazing toy and would give her full marks of 5 out of 5. I would recommend her to any little boy or girl who wants her, or had the same problem as me in them wanting a real one. She might be expensive for a toy but well worth it and lets be honest here she costs a lot less money than what a real cat would of. On you go Lulu:o)
I just want to take the time to thank you for reading my review. I hope it was of some use to you and you have as much fun with your Lulu as we do with ours. Thanks again, it is very much appreciated.
