Advantages: So easy
Disadvantages: you will end up with painted glass everywhere
If you have never tried glass painting you will be amazed to discover at just how easy it is to achieve professional looking results in a very short time. You can use the technique for decorating any kind of glass including decanters, wine glasses and even mirrors, but my favourite is the stained glass window.(Use the same technique for whatever you wish to decorate. HOW TO MAKE A STAINED GLASS WINDOW: Materials: Lint free cloth to clean glass. Tube of lead, available from hobby shops in silver, gold or black. This is what makes the glass look leaded and I think black is best. Pots of glass paint. Get these from hobby shops. They can be quite expensive, up to about £3.75 for a 25mil pot so ask before you decide to take them. Shop around as you can get several pots in a kit at less money. Paper and pencil to work out your design. Small, soft paintbrush. Method: 1.Work out the design you want in a piece of paper. Don't get too ambitious until you have a little bit of experience. You can get the lead and paint off with hot soapy water if you need to but its not easy. 2.Carefully draw the outline with the tube of lead. You need to practise until you get the line the right width. Turn the nozzle and change the angle until it feels right. Then just draw. Leave for about half an hour to set (in warm weather, takes longer in cold.) 3. Use the paintbrush to apply the colour where you want it. Its best to apply sparingly as you can put another coat on top if you want. You can apply colours over each other. For example if you put yellow over blue you will, as you might expect, get green. Don't over brush the paint or you will get marks. That's it finished!
