Advantages: Sleek design, commands come clear, easy to play, multiplayer modes great for parties

Disadvantages: A bit large for younger children, Twist It command can get jammed

My family got the Bop It Extreme about five years ago and I still play it from time to time to this very day.

Simply put, Bop It Extreme as a toy has five actions- the eponymous Bop It, Twist It, Spin It, Flick It and Pull it. Each time the voice calls out an action you do it as quickly as possible. The more commands you do correctly without getting it wrong, the higher your score. Sometimes the game may try to trick you by putting the same command twice or thrice in a row as a little challenge, plus the commands come at you faster (along with quicker music tempo) as you proceed along the game.

There are a few more modes in addition to the default 'Vox Bop: Solo' (what I described above) which you switch between easily with the actions when you aren't in-game. 'Pass it' is the same premise except you take turns performing commands until the game tells you to pass the toy to someone else until one of you misses a command. 'One-on-one' is basically a VS match where each player holds the toy at one end and performs the actions on their end, but score if they 'Bop It' first (as there are two sides to the Bop It button) with the first to five winning the game. This makes the game a great multiplayer experience and one-on-one games with my sister have gotten pretty tense and aggressive! Then, if you want a little extra challenge, swich to the 'Beat Bop' modes, which relies on listening to sounds rather than voices in regards to which action needs to be taken.

On a technical scale Bop It Extreme has an excellent design- it's easy to spot each action after getting used to the toy, although it might be a bit too big for younger children to hold comfortably. The voices are clear with the occasional witty comment if you get a really low score (i.e. lower than 15!) and the volume can be adjusted with Spin It if needed. One thing I will nitpick is that sometimes the 'Twist It' occasionally locks if and will need a little tweaking to get it loose again, but provided you don't overdo the twisting this is avoidable. Surprisingly it doesn't wear out batteries quickly either- we've had the same set in our Bop It Extreme for three years now and despite it going unused for months it has never discharged.

Overall this is a great toy for all the family or housemates. It's easy to get into and slightly hard to master, and makes an enjoyable party game.

Summary: Great for people of all ages. Highly recommended!
