Advantages: A great game for all of the family.
Disadvantages: The butterflies can get stuck.
This game has provided hours of fun for both of my children who are 2 and 5 and also for me 28!
First the boring bit in the box you will find the Elephant machine, the trunk extender as I like to call it which is approx 5 foot tall maybe more, Four nets and plenty of butterflies that are appear to be made out of sugar paper.
The idea of the game is too see who can catch the most butterflies in their net.
To play the game you place all of the butterflies into the Elephant machine, you then screw on the trunk extender and turn the machine on. The fan that is inside the Elephant then blows the butterflies enough for them to travel up the trunk and then out so that they can be caught in the net. They come out at all different angles so a lot of movement is needed for this game.
The only problems we have found is that the machine needs quite powerful batteries so the cheaper ones don't seem to work but batteries like Duracell seem to be the best. Also to put the trunk extender away you need to fold it, the more you do this the more creases that are created in it, so as time goes on as you play the game some of the butterflies get stuck in the trunk extender. This is not a major problem though as just tap the trunk with one of the nets and it will get any stuck butterflies moving.
Although it says for 2 to 4 players my children are happy to play it alone so it can be played as a 1 player and we tend to play it so see how many butterflies they can catch and see if they can catch more with each turn.
It is lovely watching the children playing with this toy especially the younger one as he thinks it so funny when the butterflies start to come out of the trunk - it always brings a smile to my face watching him have so much fun.
This toy is not only fun but I think it helps them focus and also helps their aim as they try to capture the flying butterflies.
There are cheaper versions on the market but I cannot comment on those although I cannot see how much different they can be.
All in all a great fun game which can be played by all the family.
Summary: A lovely little game which can be played by younger children aswell as older.

- 02/11/09 Shame. We have had ours for 3 years and it is still in great condition and is still a hit with the children.
I suppose it varies from children to children as with all games so love them some hate them. |
