~*~*~ Furreal Friends Squawkers Mccaw Parrot ~*~*~
~ What is it? ~
Squawkers is a cute quite realistic looking parrot. He comes with a remote control so that you can activate him from a distance.
~ Why did I buy it? ~
I bought this nearly three Christmases ago after my son said he wanted it. I wasn't quite sure what it was but after a quick check on the Argos website showed him on offer down from about £70 to £25 I bought it, in fact it might even have been a bit less than that.
~ What does it do?~
The box the toy came in was one of those open fronted ones so you could test what it did, unfortunantely the test batteries in ours didn't work so I had no idea what it did until my son opened it on Christmas morning.
My son soon had him out the box and my hubby set about putting batteries in the parrot.
Initially I was just really impressed with how well it was made and just how life like they have made the parrot.
I got out the instructions much to the disgust of my hubby who thinks he know how everything and started to read about all the different features the parrot does.
The remote is pretty basic, just a small palm sized blue remote with ten small buttons and a switch.
Using the buttons will make Squawkers do various different things, also by touching various points of the parrot he will do other things then. He also comes with a large plastic cracker that you can feed to Squawkers and he will make crunchy eating sounds. He also comes with a branch to stand on. Squawkers feet will wrap around the branch securing him in place.
He not only says various phrases, he also dances and you can record yourself and that will then come through the parrot.
~ How does he look? ~
Squawkers looks incredible, he is based upon a real Mccaw and is coloured in beautiful bright colours, his front is a bright yellow and his wings and back are coloured in a lovely shade of blue. He looks very realistic from a distance, his face is also very life like and he even has a little tongue in his beak!
He is covered in a soft fur like material rather than feathers but it still has a real feathery look about it.
~ Overall ~
My children all love this parrot with the exception of my youngest who is somewhat petrified of him! He is still played with now and is sat on the shelf above my sons bed, he often fetches the remote down and has him dancing on the shelf, where he simply bobs back and forth! He also likes to make him wolf whistle when people walk past the bedroom door which my son finds highly amusing.
I think the original price tag was a bit high but I am more than happy with it for the price I paid. He is a very strong robust toy which you can either turn off via a switch under an opening on his back or you can simply cover his eyes to make him go to sleep, he says 'Goodnight' and then snores for about five seconds and then all is quiet.
Squawkers has been a good toy which my son still loves now, I think he is just a little too realistic for my youngest who clings onto me whenever it is brought downstairs!
Thanks for reading :o) x
