Advantages: Nicely made, nice design

Disadvantages: What do those lights mean?

I love my iPod and when it comes to Christmas (because I am a tech geek) the family always struggles to buy me gifts. This is mainly beacause my tech gadgets cost in excess of their budget. It came as a big surprise that last Christmas I opened an iDog.

This little chappy connects to your iPod (or any MP3 player) via the supplied 3.5mm cable. You then switch him on and he wiggles his head and ears whilst making barking and funny noises. Then comes the fun part. Turn on your tunes and the music is played through the iDog's built-in speaker. It doesn't go too loud, but certainly loud enough to enjoy. The iDog then moves in time to the music, well sort of. It is not that accurate, but quite entertaining to watch.

The combination of lights on the face are meant to display the mood, but I could never work that out. All-in-all this is a nice but of fun. Some battery toys get annoying (like that Crazy Frog that is now in the bin), but the iDog is a little different. Maybe it cuteness has kept it on my desk. Don't expect great audio quality though. What you do get is a fun product with an actual use... the mini-speaker.

Summary: Good for a tenner, great gift
