I bought this on the advice of a friend, to be used as ammunition in an ongoing 'gags' war I have with a former work colleague. We have always played practical jokes on each other, and are always looking to get a bit of oneupsmanship on the other; the clingfilm on the toilet seat was a good one...(yes, I know its childish, but as we refuse to let the other 'win' it keeps going on!)
A friend of mine had bought this and tried it on their parents, and thought it hysterical, so I couldn't resist. I only paid just under £4 as well, so nothing to lose...The company that makes these, HDE, apparently make a whole range of novelty items, calculators that shock, computer mouse tha shocks...you get the picture. When it arrived, it was packaged up in a clear sealed bag, and was blue; never got to choose the colour, it is apparently random. It looked ok, if slightly larger than I expected, and slightly larger than a normal stapler probably should look. Size is listed as 10.5x7x3.5cm. It also came with the batteries necessary to make it 'shock', and they are very easy to insert.
Well, I gave it a test run on myself, and was pretty underwhelmed I must say. We are a promised a 'ZAP!', a harmless shock I know, but a ZAP nonetheless. What I got was far less than when I get a static electric shock getting out of the car...the pulse was so low as to almost be nonexistent. As that was the whole point of buying the thing, it renders it pretty useless. I can't even do any real stapling with it...
The upshot is, it never got used. Cheap as it was, I returned it for a refund on principle. If you are going to sell a product, for £1 or £100, it should do the job, and this was just a waste of space. I say to any fellow pranksters out there, avoid!! Just as well, as in retrospect it was all a little silly and infantile...
....now, where's that fake dog poo.
"Great for anyone who loves to laugh, leave this harmless looking stapler out on your desk and when they try to use it, ZAP! A harmless shock goes through their fingers; not enough to hurt, but just enough to make them jump! Rid that office thief with a harmless, but powerful shock."
