Jane Greenoff is a largely self taught cross stitch designer, who started out marketing her own kits in 1983. These kits are sold as The Inglestone Collection, the designs cover mainly traditional samplers, flowers and cottages. The kits are available on aida or linen, the costs vary but a mid priced kit is around £20. The kits are widely available through stitching and craft shops and on the internet. The instructions are easy to follow and the charts fairly clear. For the beginner, this is a good starter package. It has a wide colour palette for a variety of threads, including Anchor and DMC, as well as beads, and a good range fabric colours and counts. Jane Greenoff provides good, easy to understand tutorials on everything from how to start your cross stitch, to how to mount and frame your finished work. Motifs, lettering and samplers are also included in a variety of styles and sizes. However, it does have some flaws. There are a limited variety of stitches available for the more experienced cross-stitcher, which can make it difficult for the more adventurous designers to finish their work as well as they would ...

I have bought a few magazines which featured Jane Greenoff, and I liked the majority of her work, so when I saw she had released a CD ROM called Cross Stitch Pattern Creator, I paid £19.99 and went home eager to try it out. The kit contains the CD ROM, 3 gold plated needles, some DMC cotton in various colours, and a small amount of Aida, and also some money off coupons for other products. I am quite an experienced stitcher and was keen to make some of mine own patterns on something other than graph paper as the kits I tend to go for are very expensive, and the cost was starting to hinder my hobby.
