Advantages: lovely tunes and rhymes in an english accent
Disadvantages: none
This is a toy that really has done the rounds in my house.
It was purchased 2 and a half years ago and is still a staple regular in the toy box! It cost £10, and we have had more than our moneys worth, and in the whole time we've had it we've only replaced the batteries once or maybe twice-unlike alot of battery powered toys that eat the batteries.
This block is also a refreshing change to the ear offendingly loud toys that keep repeating themselves long after the child has wandered off to play with the next thing they can find, as it is quite quiet and only goes off when the child turns it to another face.
the way it works is basically:
theres a different picture on each face of the block, and theres two settings. on the first a musical rhyme is sung depending on which picture is facing up-for example, 'white polar bear in the icy snow, slipping and sliding, away we go!'
on the second setting different style tunes are played, again depending on which picture faces up, and they are designed to represent the image, which is done to perfection. There are a couple of extra bits to entertain the child-the polar bear can be moved left and right a little and the lion's mane is crinkly for example.
this toy has been played with so much-my second daughter is still playing with it at 17 months and it will be kept for my son once he's sitting up. its a lovely toy, definately worth getting, like most of the leapfrog range.
another feature i like-and its the same with all leapfrog toys, is that the songs are sung in an english accent, not american, so is not so confusing to the child in my opinion.
Summary: a wonderful toy, definately worth its cheap pricetag!
