Like the previous post, I purchased this same table but the areas that are pink in the above picture were green. This was a present for my daughters first birthday, and I wanted something that was unisex in colour as when I bought it she wasnt born and had no idea what I was having ( except a baby of course! ).Most of the toys I have bought for both of my children have been VTEC but Im aware that Leapfrog is also a good brand in the realm of toy making, so had no issues purchasing it. I also bought it at a reduced price, and thought I could kill two birds with one stone and have both my children playing with it.
What I found when I opened the package was there was very little assemble needed, just needed to stick on the legs. I liked the fact you didnt have to put the legs on, and could just lay it flat on the floor or surface, perfect if the little one wasnt at the stage of walking or holding onto things. The overall size isnt huge obviously more compact and easier to store away if you take the legs off.
There are different instruments on the table that children can experience, such as a trumpet, piano. To get the sounds you have to either press, pull or lift which is great in regards to hand and eye co ordination, and sheer fun at discovering sounds with actions.
Not only does the table have a variety of different songs, but they can be heard in either French or English, which is very diverse. There is also counting of numbers, exploration of shapes and more. Basically the main areas that pre school children are encouraged and expected to learn.
This is one of those toys originally that both my children would use, one being 3 the other 1, and I could see how it would help with learning and having fun in different ways for both. My huge disappointment has been after only afew months of use, it stopped working. At first I thought it was the batteries, but they were changed several times and still no change. Right now its stood in a corner where it doesnt get played and most of us push past it to get from a to b.
When this table works, its great, and perfect for ages between 6-36months.But when the lights no longer light up, and the sounds you can no longer hear, its just a brightly coloured ornament. If I remembered where I bought it from, and it wasnt so long ago, it would have gone straight back. Shame, as it is a good product, but wouldnt have paid full price whether it worked perfectly or not. If you do buy this product, please shop around as some places are selling it for over £50.00, and some alot less.
When my daughter turned one, we felt she really needed some toys that she would grow with. Electronic toys aren't my favourite if I'm honest, I much prefer classical traditonal toys, but at the same time I know how much my daughter is attracted by all singing all dancing toys. As a little extra gift for her first birthday, my husband and I bought her this this Leapfrog Learn and Groove Musical Table, which usually retails between £25 and £30 however, I picked it up at £16 on amazon and when I saw it at that price, I thought it would be an ideal way to finish her gift.
Although the picture at the top shows a toy with pink legs, I actually have the green version of this toy. Everything apart from the colour is the same though. This table is suitable for children from 6 months to 36 months and I think this is a fair age range. My daughter was a year when she got this, and it is perfect for her height so she can stand and play with this table, but I also think it would be very useful when a child is learning to pull themselves up as it is a sturdy toy. Even if a child cannot pull themselves up or they get too tall for this table, the main toy itself can be detached from the legs and played with independently.
This toy comes with the option of two languages - English or French, which may be a useful feature for some, but is of little relevance to my daughter. Changing the language is simply a matter or pushing a button.
The hard book on the middle of table can be flipped between either a music mode or language mode. Depending on the mode selected each of the other toys on the table top adapt. As the picture at the top shows, there is a small colourful keyboard, a trombone style toy, a xylophone, a maraca, and even a music door that can be opened and closed. Children can either listen to the alphabet or hear the numbers 1 - 10 being counted depending on the mode selected.
There are parts of this table top that my daughter enjoys and there are parts she never really bothers with. She loves the maraca, flipping the book, and opening and closing the music door, as it stops and starts music when she does this and she finds this quite amusing. I would have expected her to enjoy all of the buttons but she tends to go back to the same ones.
Since receiving this toy, I would say that my daughter does play with it, but certainly not everyday and certainly not for very long. Now, I do know that as she grows she may start to look at more of the buttons, but she has had this now for almost three months and she hasn't shown any more interest in it than she did at the start. I am glad that I didn't pay the full price for this toy it certainly wouldn't have been value for money for my little girl. I am slightly disappointed, but maybe other children may find it of more interest than my daughter.
