Advantages: fun to watch

Disadvantages: pricey when not on offer

When I first saw these in the Argos catologue, I thought, oh no, another tamagotchi kind of craze was looming. I didn't realise that a year later I would be unable to resist buying myself some.

These colourful little boxes and interactive men that you can play with. You can buy them in sets or individually, and they come in a rather overpackaged plastic casing. This isn't ideal, and is quite tough to get into, especially for kids so have the scissors at the ready.

Each box has a different character, and each character has a game on their box. This is quite a nice touch, even though the games are quite easy and repetitive. The best thing, and probably the main selling point about these is that you can stick them together and they will interact and cross over between screens. You can also move the boxes and they will respond. The more you have of these the better they are I suppose, so you should be advised that just one isn't such fun... You can also buy large boxes which have more features, and both kinda handily switch off after they aren't being used so they are actually good at conserving battery life.

Originally these were extortionately priced at around the £20 mark, although recently I have seen them at almost a quarter of that price in the Entertainer toy shop. These are great for kids and adults alike. They would even make a nice addition to a family area so you can all have your own box and see how they get on!
