I could probably sum up this review in about five words: electronic interactive talking Yoda. Actually, that was four words, that's how amazing this thing is.
While not the sort of thing I'd buy for myself it's the sort of thing you offer as a gift or, if you're lucky, get offered for you. I mean, at the end of the day it is just a talking animatronic doll. Although an animatronic doll that teaches you how to become a Jedi Knight
Yoda's eyes and ears move, as well as his mouth and he has a 450 word vocabulary. If you thought the toy itself was cool, wait till you hear him talk. In classic Yoda voice he mutters all sorts of lines in training you to become a Jedi master. It comes with an interactive lightsaber that's just for you. It is extendable and although by itself it's pretty cool, it's when you have it with Yoda that everything suddenly becomes even better.
The lightsaber is interactive with the toy and can be sensed by him, so Yoda can actually tell you if you're doing what he is telling you to do or not. He will give you instructions on how to properly hold and use a lightsaber. The sensor on his chest can not only detect the lightsaber but can also tell you when it gets dark (in case you weren't aware of it) and will eventually go to sleep
This does have a lot of similarities to a Furby, but in every way that the Furby failed, the Yoda toy excels. It's not annoying (although even when you're trying to go to sleep he never shuts up) as a furby and doesn't spout out nonsensically into furby-speak.
It's a really good novelty gift, for the super Star Wars geeks, whether they're kids or adults
includes interactive lightsaber
All I have to say is WOW!!!! Everyone needs to go out and buy an Interactive Yoda, with an extendable Lightsaber!!!! It was my birthday recently, (23 in case anyone was wondering) and I have, for a long time now, wanted to get one of these Interactive Yoda's that I have been hearing about. But as you can imagine at my more mature age this would seem childish and a waste of money. So I got my girlfriend to by it for me instead! And I am now on the road to becoming a Jedi Knight!! The Yoda unit itself looks amazing, it even has wispy grey hair. But it is not until you turn him on by moving him that you are truly amazed by what is available as a toy in today's market. The eyes open, and the mouth and ears move as Yoda comes to life. However it is not until he starts to speak to you that you fully appreciate how much time and effort has been made to create this fabulous 'toy'. He has a light sensor in his chest, which detects whether or not it is light or dark, it can be fun playing with him by covering the sensor, as he laughs as says, 'Hehehe, dark it is, see you I cannot'. The sensor however is also there for a more practical purpose, it receives pulses from a Lightsaber that is also provided with the Yoda. When at the specified distance, and once Yoda is ready to train you, you activate the Lightsaber. Yoda then proceeds to give you commands, teaching you how to yield the Jedi's weapon of justice. The sensors on the Lightsaber interact with the receiver on Yoda's chest and he can tell if you are doing as you are told. As you progress in your training Yoda also progresses with you, starting off each time where you left off. But where would be the fun in learning all day? Yoda can also play with you, asking you questions you have to answer by pressing sensors in his hands. He can also tell when he has been picked up, and when he is upside down. The only downside to Yoda's ant
ics is that he is extremely difficult to turn off, as if he is left alone he will continue to talk to you before he goes to sleep. One way I have found is to cover his light sensor so he thinks its dark, and only then will he nod off. I have to admit in once having a play with a Furby, (not like that!!!) and got bored very quickly with its nonsense talk and never ending need to be fed. With Yoda he is self-sufficient and coherent, so children (& adults) can actually learn. I think that this product is excellent, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Star Wars. In fact buy it for the kids and that way you get an excuse to play with it yourself!!
