Nintendogs

One of the toys enjoyed by little Miss at the moment; it was bought because of the allure of the "Nintend" bit. It's mad by Nintendo and presumably based around their game which often finds its way into her DS Lite.

WHAT IS IT?

We became the rather proud owners of Pug Le Carlin. He (apparently it looks like a "he") is easily removed from the box, and there he is, sitting about 20cm high from bottom to top of head. He is quite sweet really with his brown fur and black pug eyes and ears. Along with the dog comes a white bone with Nintendog written on it- just in case we want to use it for something else.

On the back of the box, we get a little bit of information about our new puppy, and what a special little chap he is. Heralded as an "international man of mystery", we discover that the pug originated before 400BC and were prized possessions of the emperors of China. I like this bit of information because Little Miss actually took an interest in where her new puppy came from (not toys "R" us!!)

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Here is the fascinating bit!

The puppy can apparently be "trained" by using the bone as bait. So, hold the bone in front of its nose, but not too close and the puppy moves its head to find the bone. Hold it too close, and it's as though the bone is snatched out of your hand. Similarly, if you hold the bone close to its paw, the paw moves in the direction of the bone. We can even make its tail move by waggling the bone in the vicinity of its tail at speed.

It didn't take Little Miss long to figure out that this is caused by a magnet inside the bone and the corresponding body parts, but she still has great fun making the tail wag.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The suggested age is for 3 years and above.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

RRP is £9.99, and this can be bought in toy shops up and down the country.

MADE BY...

The dog is made by Nintendo. The website, www.nintendo.com is obviously closely linked to the DS Lite games of the same name because you can register your games on the site...something which we had to do, and so get an adoption paper.

OTHER DOGS

Yorkshire Terrier, Golden Retriever, Chihuahua, Boxer, Dalmation, Cavalier king Charles

VERDCIT

Since this is based on the Nintendo game, and because it is very cute looking and of course obedient, Little Miss really likes this. I thought at first that she would tire of making the head, tail and foot move, but it seems she still finds it quite amusing. It really doesn't do anything other than what I have said it does but at the moment it seems Nintendo can do no wrong.

The dog does look quite cute sitting on her windowsill with the bone hanging out of its mouth, and she does like it, so it's a winner in this house.

For anyone who likes dogs and Nintendo game of the same name (but with a "z" I do believe) I would recommend this.

Thanks for reading.
