Advantages: Nicely made, strong and good design
Disadvantages: Games and Activities a bit hard for younger children
My 3 year old is always hitting the keys on my laptop so thought it would be good idea to get a "child friendly" toy laptop.
As computers are part of everyday life now, it gives him the opportunity to have a play with a toy one without wrecking my keyboard.
I bought mine last Christmas and although it was not his most favourite toy it still does get played with.
***What it does***
This laptop is strong and light for a child to carry, it has a carry handle when you have it closed. It is fairly easy for the child to open and close themselves, as my one year old son plays with this as well as my 3 year old son. It also has a cute little mouse that can be moved in four directions.
The youngest son loves to just hit the buttons and it does keep him amused for about 10 minutes but I find without actually playing the games he loses interest.
I find this laptop is very hard for a 3-4 year old to operate themselves, as in playing the games. It is not straight forward. In fact my children are not interested in playing with the games that are on this yet but I am guessing they will be as soon as they are older. My oldest son is starting school next September so maybe he will be more enthuastic then.
***The Games***
This has 30 educational activities, Forest Phonics, Number Order, Puzzle Pieces and Musical Fun games.
We have not really played any of the games, it been more of a role-play laptop for play rather than using it for educational purposes.
When my children hit the buttons of this laptop, it makes many noises and changes depending what sort of activity you are on, but this is all hit and miss, as my children just press all the buttons.
***Overall Opinion***
I think this is a great toy during role play but when it comes to the games they are hard for a 3 year old, they may be able to do them with an adult but my son would rather play with his trains.
I love the feature of the mouse and it is really strong and well made.
I bought this for £20 last Christmas but it now retails at around £12 which is worth the price tag in my opinion.
I am looking forward to using this with my son when he is old enough to do the games and activities. They say for ages 3-6, I would say this is probably more suited to a 4-5 year old.
Will last a long time and provide many hours of entertainment and it is just that something different for your child to play with.
Summary: Suitable 3-6yrs but more 4-5 years upwards
