I used Autolinx for a three week car rental in the summer of 2000. Their apparently economical rates and convenient delivery/pick up service masked a litany of problems ranging from the mundane to the horrific. From delivery there were problems: the drivers side mirror was held on by sticky tape and part was hanging off. The driver's side front tyre was missing a hub cap, the car was generally looking a bit 'fatigued'. On the first night the Autolinx car alarm went off at 4:00 am in a quiet residential neighbourhood. When I phoned the office they were evasive, and asked me to give it a chance. The alarm went off intermittently over the next two days and nights. They couldn't replace the car so they called out the AA man. I lost a days rental and never knew when it would go off again, which it did, a week later. Then the mirror fell out. I'm sure the branch manager did his best, but was put in an impossible situation by the smarmy head honcho in London, who saw me as a nuisance and definitely not his problem. All their deliverymen were tough looking bruisers! Coincidence? I don't know, but I certainly didn't want to argue with them! This company ruined my holiday and I warn you to stay well clear of them. I'm so glad I've found Dooyoo to help warn others. Ironically I found Dooyoo when I surfed the net hoping to find that Autolinx had been closed down. In my experience they certainly deserve to be.
