Advantages: CAR, CODE OF CONDUCT

Disadvantages: TRAINING, FRANCHISE COST, SALES TALK!

I am an instructor for the AA driving school. I started with them after passing my final exams. I thought the AA would be a good school to start with rather than going alone or starting with a local school. HOW WRONG! I received no training at all. This means that an AA instructor teaches how they want to not what the AA tells them. The only training was a 2-day course just to explain how the AA paperwork has to be filled out.
We do work to a very strict code of conduct though. This includes, a smart dress code (no jeans, t-shirts trainers etc) no smoking before or during lessons or in the car at all, a full hour training, no phone use during lessons, no passengers etc.
The price of lessons are not that much more expensive than any other school. The Ford Focus is a very nice car so the extra £2 is worth it.
I have now left the driving school because I cannot source enough work. The school has only supplied me with 4 customers in the 2 months I have worked for them, yet before I started they tell you how “they don’t take on more instructors in your local area unless there is enough work” –yeah right
My first impressions of the schools were bad after they double charged me with my deposit (£600). This took about 6 weeks to get back. They also messed up my start date and quite a few other things. Not a very professionally run business!
If you're thinking of taking lessons with AADS then look around. Like i said, an AA instructor is no better trained than any other school!
If you're thinking of joining the AA, Don't fall for the sales talk like i did, Go alone or join a smaller school!!

Summary: DON'T JOIN THE AADS

I found the AA instructor very 'sticklery' and out to get my money by saying I needed millions of lessons.

I'll think twice about lessons with them now, thanks for the warning.
