**Introduction** Have you ever considered a narrowboat holiday? If you have childhood memories of messing about on boats or you fancy the aquatic version of the freedom of the road, this might be for you. Alvechurch narrowboats are based in several parts of England - Alvechurch (Worcs.), Anderton (Ches.), Wrenbury (Salop) and Gayton (Northants.) in the Midlands, and Hilperton in Wiltshire. In addition, you can hire from them at Falkirk in Scotland. Alvechurch is now part of a bigger firm called UK Boat Hire, which also includes Viking Afloat (these are bright yellow), Wessex Narrowboats (green) and Red Line Fleet (red!).
