Advantages: They Come Quickly
Disadvantages: Often do not attempt to repair at the roadside or even examine the fault.
I've been a member for a number of years, mainly because this organisation do not restrict the number of callouts you can have in a year, and this was a very valuable point for me, bearing in mind that at first I had a very old car which broke down about once a week, and a firm which had a limit would have been totally useless.
Each time, they have turned up and got me home, without complaint. Most of the mechanics have been polite and friendly. They have turned up quickly, and I have really had no complaint with the service which is why I renew year after year.
A couple of points are worth mentioning. On a few occasions I have had to call them out for a flat tyre, and to my absolute AMAZEMENT have been told by several of the mechanics that they do not carry a PUMP! I would have thought this was the one basic piece of equipment that every breakdown service needs to carry; a puff of air and I'd have been on my way!
The second point is that they automatically transport you home, because they do not have a roadside repair policy. This is a little bit irritating when maybe half an hour's labour could have fixed the problem; instead I have been dumped on a transporter and taken home, which is NOT where I needed to be at the time. No good getting recovered to my destination - how would I then get home?
The last occasion I called them was when the exhaust developed a fault. Instead of getting the tape out and fixing the hole, they recovered the car home. That was 2 months ago and the car has been stuck on the drive since - time has not yet allowed me to get the car to a garage and have one of their mechanics tape the thing up for me.
Having said that, they are still a good service and I shall stick with them for the time being!
Summary: Reliable breakdown firm
