Advantages: well known company

Disadvantages: Quite expensive

I started learning to drive with BSM after most of my family had past with them so I thought that this would be a good driving school to go with. They cost a bit more than other local driving schools at £25 per hour but I thought that I might have passed quicker with them.

Booking a lesson was easy enough it can be done via the website or by telephoning them. I chose to phone them and booked my first 2 hour lesson for the following week.

So I was looking forward to be able to start the lessons and waited for the driving instructor to arrive but they did not turn up. After 20 mins I rang my local BSM centre to ask why nobody had come. They told me they would phone me back, a few minutes later they did to be told the instructor was running late and would be about another 15 minutes. This was my first lesson with BSM and it was not a great impression.

My instrutor finally turned up and I went on my lesson the instructor did say sorry about being late and I felt happy enough to book some more lessons with them.

However most lessons were always late but I did get the full two hours so it was ok as long as I didn't have to be somewhere else. After over twenty hours I felt as that I was not really learning enough as every week it would be driving too the same places and streets which were in a town where I dont live or where I would have been taking my test. I'd only been shown how too do a turn in the road and that's all.

The lessons were costing alot each week and I felt really disappointed. I know that I could have asked for another instructor with BSM however I had lost confidence with the company and decided to not have any more lessons with them.

You could pre book your lessons by block booking this way it saves you a bit of money, also students get £2 off a lesson. The price of a lesson varies depending on which area you live and you can pay for you lessons by cash but not on the first lesson.

I can't speak for all the BSM instructors as some might be good but in my experience with the company I would not use them again and will be sticking to an independent instructor. They cost more and I felt that I was not learning enough. The only good thing about them was the book that you get for them to mark the progress that you make.

Summary: I didn't have that great an experience
