I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
I booked a package of lessons , and was advised to pay my test and mock test fees up front, by debit card
My instructor lacked confidence, was socially inadequate and showed up 20 minutes late. It turns out he, along with the vast majority of their instructors, was unqualified.
It has taken me three months to get a refund . After over 10 phone calls, I was told eventually that a cheque had been lost in the post, then that it would take another 28 days for me to receive a substitute.
Having been told last week that "we do not have the software to refund a debit card", I finally received it today...on my debit card.
A large, uncaring, mercenary organisation that need to seriously look at
the serious issues they have with customer service and satisfaction.

BSM - A Total Waste of Time & Money!!! If you are thinking of starting driving lessons with BSM please read this post. Please consider your choice very carefully!!!! My sister learnt with BSM 9 years ago before they were franchised in the days when you could have 20 hours and that would be enough to pass your test. In ... Read the complete review

........BSM bad experience.........This week June/July 2009
My wife booked her test preceded by a block of intensive lessons over a week. The DAY BEFORE the test the so called "instructor" stated that he was refusing to make himself or the car ( which had already been paid for )
available, because he thought she "may not" pass.
MY wife wanted to take the test regardless of the outcome, it is her choice.
result
1. Loss of test
2. unable to reschedule with DSA because 3 days notice are required.
3.lots of tears and loss of confidence
Clearly BSM are motiated by taking MONEY and NOT providing the service required by the public.
Avoid Avoid Avoid................ shame on you BSM !

BSM driving school were brilliant for me. After shopping around, getting quotes ffrom various independent instructors, the general rate for driving lessons in my area seemed to be around the £20 mark. BSM charge £24.25 (i think) per hour, but with special block booking discounts the price came down to £21.25 an hour (which is hardly a great deal ... Read the complete review

BSM are absolutely shocking. The instructor didn't show up to my first lesson but I believe that was the local center's fault, not his, then after having two lessons with him I found out he was NOT A FULLY QUALIFIED INSTRUCTOR and had never had anyone pass a test. So I'm paying £54 per two hour lesson to be trained by someone who is not even qualified. BSM also failed to book my theory test for me until I rang and chased them at the local center.

VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!! BSM was our first choice of driving school to teach our youngest son as his elder brother had passed first time with them, eight years ago. However, our 2nd experience with the school has been abominable. A first 2-hour (unable to book one hour) lesson was arranged and pre-paid (both obligatory). The ... Read the complete review

I decided at 25 years old it was about time I should learn to drive, after many hours of lessons with a local driving school (actually nearly 3 years!) and many lessons of being taught by my OH who was the most horrible instructor by far! It was growing blatantly obvious that I was just not a natural driver, I had already gone from learning ... Read the complete review

I decided to start driving lessons after my aunt gave me a BSM gift certificate for my birthday. I didnt actually get round to using it untill 2 years later but they still accepted it, even though I was 3 days over the expired date. I started by having a go in the driving simulator before booking some lessons. The driving simulator was ... Read the complete review

Well, I've been off here for quite a few months now, and during that time, I decided to learn to drive. I'm sure you're aware of BSM. They use Vauxhall Corsas, covered in orange vinyls, and are part of BSM. I suppose the guarantee of a fairly new, decent car, which will always be a Corsa, and not anything like a Micra etc. which ... Read the complete review

To summarise BSM were ok, but i would consider an independent instructor first, especially if you hear of a good one by word of mouth. BSM simply dont live up to the professional image they adverise themselves as. I decided to go with BSM because their marketing was quite appealing and i expected a large organisation to conduct itself ... Read the complete review

BSM was the only people I learnt to drive with, so it's not easy to compare to other schools apart from comparing notes. I had pro's and cons with learning with BSM, here's a quick run down: Pro's: Good, new, modern cars. I was able to learn in a brand new corsa which had plenty of driving aids to make learning that ... Read the complete review

Bsm franchise is a complete rip off. I paid 2500 to train with bsm and to be fair the trainer was good. however once i applied for a trainee licence things got worse. i was earning 67 a week, hardly the 30k job that they advertise! after numerous meetings with the manager to ask for more pupils and marketing materials it never happened. I have been a very nervous learner and have had hours and hours of driving lessons from my BSM instructor. He has always been helpful, supportive, patient and understanding but has pushed me when I've needed a push! My experience has been very positive. BSM Are awful. Or at least, that's been my experience with them. I've only had one lesson with them, but the problems began even before that lesson started. Firstly, the instructor turned up a month before my first lesson was due, and telephoned me to tell me that he was waiting outside. I telephoned the local BSM call centre, and they ... BSM have proved to be majorly inefficient and incompetent. When I asked to have my driving test date changed they told me they had and that I shouldn't worry that I hadn't received a letter from the DSA informing me of the change. Imagine my horror when I was turned away from the test centre on the day of my test and told that the system showed I simply hadn't bothered to show up on the first date. They had no knowledge of the changed date. After a month's silence and a complaint letter from me BSM finally got in touch with me and said they would organise an alternative date but have not mentioned any form of compensation, free lessons or anything. Was I expected to just carry on paying through the nose for lessons just to keep em fresh?

The worst school I've ever known, took over 20 hours of lessons just to get used to driving in England (already have a full foreign license), failed the test three times only because the instructor failed to teach properly, very costly with unqualified instructor, finally got our car insured for a provisional license to be able to practice. When started to drive in oour car with my husband, he was astonished and could not believe that my driving faults were not noticed or properly taught by my instructor, I do not recommend them to anyone

I spent about £1200 for lessons and unfortunately failed last week. Looking back at my driving experience with BSM, I have come to conclusion that the problem lies in great extend on the instructor side. Rather than repeating the manoeuvres which I knew quite well we should have focused more on difficult areas such as roundabouts. I had an ... Read the complete review
