Advantages: get to you quick

Disadvantages: none

The Green Flag, isn't like the AA and RAC, they haven't got their own vans, and in theory they are not a organsisation. The Green Flag works with local garages, when you phone for assistance, the control centre, takes your details, contacts the nearest garage to you, and from there the mechanic comes and assists you.

The responce times are good, and they normally get to you in twenty minutes, I have never had to wait for more than forty minutes.

The mechanics seem quite good, and most of the time they come identify the problem quickly and get you back on the road.

The Green Flag offer a great service, if they can't fix your car they will either tow it home or to a local garage, and even if you break down at your home address they will come round to you. They also offer other benefits such as cover when going abroad.

At the moment I'm not with Green Flag, but when I was, it cost me about £5.99 a month, which I feel is a reasonable price for the level of cover provided.

If you have a new car, I wouldn't recommend them as the chances are you would never use them, you would be better signing up with the AA's cheapest package, which is the cover I have now.

The only niggle I have with Green Flag, is that once my car broke down, and the mechanic said it was the drive-shaft which is a serious problem. I was in the process of scrapping the car, until, a friend checked the car out, and told me it wasn't the drive-shaft but some sort of coupling, this was replaced for £20, and I was back on the road again.

Like I said before, most of the time they diagnos the problem quickly and repair it there and then, my experience was definitely a one off.

All in all, a great reliable service.

What if you broke down at home TT, you'd be in it then. It could end up costing about £40 to call a garage out.

Point taken, but see the more expensive pakages as a waste of money, only concernd is getting stranded somewhere, all basic packages cover that. TT.

The problem is you don't know which mechanic is going to come out, some firms might be helpful, others might dislike being called out in their tea break. Still, good op!
