      Use at your own PERIL!

      Waited in all day to receive a parcel - blinds from Wilson's Blinds in July 2013 to an address in Redditch, Worcestershire (not the back of beyond). I am leaving this review now as CityLink have attempted to have my review removed from another site claiming there's no record of "my purchase", which is complete rubbish.

      Their tracking lied and said "failed delivery". This was a Friday. I contacted CityLink who said that I had been carded - there was no card. On checking the information from the driver, they said he had photod a house claiming it to be mine. I described my house and it didn't match the description of the photo they had which the driver claimed to have attempted delivery at, with no one being in. All Lies. We were in all day.

      I asked for a redelivery for the following day as it was their error, but this was refused as it was a Saturday and (their words) I hadn't paid for Sat Delivery. No....I had paid for delivery a day earlier when I had deliberately had time off work to wait for an item I needed urgently!

      Consequently I had to wait another 3 days before they would redeliver on the Monday. Appalling customer service. They have also tried to have my review removed from another site and so I have decided to leave reviews on other sites as a result. I won't put up with their bully boy tactics.

      Joke of a company. I brought a very hard to find movie projector off ebay that cost just short of £1000. Brand new this item would have cost £10000!It was scanned in at the collection depo and thats as far as it got. Never received it, and currently they are looking for it!!! The box is a metre long and half a metre wide and high and weighs 25Kg and covered in fragile stickers ...... How the hell does something like that go missing????I am currently fuming and waiting for answers. If not found in the next couple of days i will be demanding a criminal investigation because something that big just doesn't go missing. Unfortunately I never chose the courier and would't have chose City Link as I have had trouble with them before now! NOT HAPPY, WORST COMPANY EVER.....

      Terrible I would never knowingly use this company again

      City Link are a company to be avoided at all costs.
      They don't deliver when they are supposed to and cover for the drivers who alledge to have tried to deliver.
      I have waited in for two days for a designated day delivery (which was yesterday !) and have been told that I wasn't at home at all on both days, which I was on both occasions , and is now why I feel I have justification for this public moan.
      The company said the driver had 'carded' me to say that he had been both days and surprise surprise I haven't received either card. Then they said the weather had meant the driver couldn't deliver even though everyone else had been able to access my road (including the bin men, which as everyone knows is the first service to suffer if the weather is bad) my friend in a Porsche sports car even came to my house ...when City Link couldn't
      So this leads me to suggest that the company lies on behalf of the driver when they just don't both to deliver and make poor lies to cover their tracks....or NO tracks in their case !!!
      Why should companies who pay for their service and customers who also have to pay (with their time and phone calls) in the long run have to put up with this shambolic poor service when there are companies out there desperate for work.
      Anyone with a valid complaint about this company, phone them and let them know and also let the company who have used them as a courier know as well and hopefully they will see the great British public expects a better service, exactly what they are being payed for.

      Serious security issue on website. Waited all day for parcel only to be told I had requested online that I would collect. Not true! Complaints department don't respond. Parcel now sent back to sender. Luckily I paid by paypal and should get a refund.

      CITY LINK IS A JOKE MICKEY MOUSE ORGANISATION! I have never come across such a badly organised shambles like this before in my life and would be extremely surprised if there's another company like that out there because it's probably gone bust. My parcel was on a timed delivery for 12 noon and didn't arrive, the call centre would appear to be manned by morons who are unable to contact the Bicester depot. I called 6 times and at one stage I had them on 3 different lines in an effort to get an answer!! The people in this organisation do not have the foggiest idea of what's going on and the staff in the call centre are employed to tell lies and fob you off! I eventually drove to the depot and collected myself at 6.45 PM!!!!!

      I will in future cancel all orders when I find they are being delivered by City Link

      I just wanted to add my City Link story, which has now led me to find out with every online order whether they use this company. If so, I will cancel any order.

      I ordered a rug through a website a few weeks ago, and then received the despatch message from them last Monday. On the next day, coming home from work, I found a message from City Link in my letter box that stated they had already tried twice to deliver. And this although there were painters in the flat all day and I had informed them of the expected delivery.

      The same evening I went on their website to see whether I could 'override' this message and postpone the delivery to another day. This was possible and I was given a choice of three dates, of which I chose one. The site stated that any booking could be amended before 11pm. and generated a pdf receipt, which I still have.

      On the day, as I work full time, I had to arrange with a freelance friend to spend the whole day at my flat during business hours, in order to avoid another failed delivery. As discussed, he kindly spent the whole day at my flat, unable to work to his full capacity, and in the evening reported that no delivery had been made. I subsequently called their customer services line (after I eventually found the one that puts you through to more than an automated message), to be instructed that the booking had not gone through as it had been made after 7.30pm. However I was promised delivery for the following day, Friday.

      With some difficulty I was able to convince my friend to spend yet another day at my flat, and fall further behind with his workload. To make sure the delivery would arrive on this day I called their service line first thing in the morning. The operator told me that the van had gone out for the day, however that 'for some reason' my rug had not been loaded. It was confirmed that the van would be called back and the the rug would be loaded on it. I called the same line twice more during the day to confirm. On the first occasion the operator was not able to get in touch with the van and promised to ring me back (which she never did), on the second occasion it was confirmed that the rug was now 'definitely' on the van. Coming home from work my friend informed me that there had been no delivery all day. So I called their Customer Service line again and was informed that 'for some reason' the rug had been taken back to the depot, and that the depot manager had left for the day.

      Following a complaint I was told that they could arrange a Saturday delivery, as 'the van was going out into my area anyway'. However it was not possible to estimate a time of delivery. I then posted a complaint on their website.

      The next morning the rug was delivered in the morning, however, I don't expect this story will have any effect on their pathetic practice.

      As a postscript, I today received a response to last week's complaint. This however was unfortunately a response to somebody else's case...

      INCOMPETENT

      An expensive camera and lens that I ordered on Friday 30th November from a shop in Gloucestershire is placed with City Link for a Saturday (next day) delivery at an unbelievable cost of £31! I'am given the tracking number and told the parcel will be delivered between 7.30am - 12midday. At 10am I check the tracking information and I'am concerned that the status is showing still in 'the system' and not out for delivery. I then spend over 45 mins waiting to speak to someone at City Link on the phone. I'am then told on the phone that they don't know where my parcel is as it's not at the Milton Keynes depot, and beyond that there's nothing else they can tell as it's a Saturday and drivers are not contactable. WHY OFFER A SATURDAY DELIVERY SERVICE IF YOUR DRIVERS ARE NOT CONTACTABLE! I explain I'm not happy and need more information. I'm called back later to be told that they have no idea where my parcel is as it never made it to a sorting hub in Warrington in Manchester. So let me get this right a Parcel is collected in Gloucestershire then is taken all the way to Warrington in Manchester for it to be delivered to me in Bedfordshire??? That is almost a round trip round the UK... But just when I thought it couldn't get any worse I'am then told there was no way that City Link could find out when my parcel could be delivered until 6.30pm on Monday 3rd December as the Warrington sorting hub wasn't open till then! A NATIONAL COURIER FIRM THAT USES A FACILiTY THAT DOESN"T OPEN DURING THE DAY!!!! It was at this point I gave up the will to live or deal with these cowboys any longer... will possibly update if I ever see my camera! IN THE MEANTIME PLEASE LET THIS REVIEW AND THE LONG LIST OF OTHERS PROVE TO YOU TO NEVER USE THEM!

      I will deliberately avoid buying from anywhere that ships with City Link, ever again. They are a joke.

      First error: I missed a delivery, and got a calling card through my door with absolute no information on it. Literally blank. I have to presume that it is meant for me, and that they will be reattempting delivery.

      Second error: My Mum ordered wine to be delivered to her house, and specified on the delivery instructions (and it said it on the box) not to leave with a neighbour as she would rearrange or collect it if she missed the delivery.... They left it with a neighbour.

      Third error: I ordered an important package, and paid extra for before 10.30am delivery so that I could make sure that I didn't miss it. At 10.30am, there had been no knock on the door and no card had been put through... so I logged on to online tracking, to find that apparently my neighbours had signed for it. Why would he go to my neighbours and not me??! Annoying enough after paying extra for delivery... but it only gets more mysterious when my neighbours are adamant that they never signed for anything. This one is still waiting to be resolved...

      It doesn't help that the call centre are absolutely useless. If you are unfortunate enough to already have trouble with City Link, try to resolve it through the sender rather than calling them... For your sanity's sake.

      If you haven't used them yet... Don't.

      I could have rode a unicycle to the shop quicker than I'm going to receive this package. In fact, I could have built the damn thing.

        Check the Courier before making a phone or internet purchase

        An upgrade of my express review as John Grimsby today.
        Two years ago I ordered a computer screen from Amazon and paid for Next Day delivery on Thursday. We were
        going away on Monday. We waited in all Friday, no delivery, no card. I phoned CityLink Scunthorpe before 5 pm.
        They said no-one was in so the driver left a card. Neither was true. At 6 pm our neighbour turned up with a
        card left at her house, yet both houses were clearly numbered and visible from the street. On Saturday I
        informed CityLink of the driver's mistake and asked for delivery the same day. They refused and I had to drive
        30 miles each way to collect the package.
        Yesterday I ordered a Netbook from John Lewis and paid for next day delivery. My wife and I waited in all
        morning, no delivery, no card. One neighbour was away for a month, the other was out all morning.
        When I called Scunthorpe the Office was closed.
        When I called John Lewis they managed to contact CityLink Head Office who didn't know where the item was. At
        730 pm on Saturday the latest tracking log was more than 24 hours old "23/11/12 18:20. These goods have
        been scanned at the collection Depot and are now on route to the delivery Depot."
        I asked John Lewis for a total refund, but they will not give this until I return the item, if I ever receive it.
        John Lewis need to rethink CityLink.

        2 years ago a Next-Day delivery on the Friday by CityLink failed to turn up. We waited in all day. No delivery, no card. At 6pm our neighbour, out all day, turned up with a card delivered to her. Both houses were clearly Numbered. Scunthorpe office refused a delivery next day and I had to drive 30 miles each way to Scunthorpe to collect it. Yesterday (Friday) I bought a netbook from John Lewis, and paid for next day delivery. I waited in all Saturday morning. No delivery no card. One neighbour has been away for a month. The other was out all morning. No card there when he returned. By 1230 Scunthorpe CityLink Office was closed. John Lewis contacted City Link headquarters who did not know where my package was.

        Either incompetent or criminal - You decide?!

        A week ago (Friday 16/11/12) City Link collected a guitar amplifier from an EBay seller in Aberdeen on my behalf. It was fully tracked and can be seen on ther website as arriving at their Epsom depot early Saturday morning. It was shown as being scheduled for delivery on Tuesday 20th, not exactly next day but acceptable so I thought. Tuesday 20th came and went and the package was still showing as being 'in our network'. I contacted their 'call centre' (note: it's certainly not a helpdesk!) thinking maybe there was a delay in delivery, only to be told that it was 'probably lost'. Three days and three phone calls later the package has still not been located and nobody from City Link has ever bothered to call me. I've been informed that I can't contact the depot directly (as 'they have other things to do' - like selecting their Xmas gifts presumably). Now if the package was small and light I could maybe believe that it was genuinely lost however the amplifier is in a 50cm square box and weighs over 25kg! Packages that size do not simply disappear nor do they get easily lost. In summary, draw your own conclusions as to what 'lost' means, and when packages are 'lost' City Link really couldn't care less... If you are reading this please tell anybody considering using a courier service NEVER to use City Link. You have been warned!

        City Link is the single worst company ever known to mankind. Their drivers lie saying they've tried to deliver and no one was home and they've left a card. Must be an invisible card as I should have five by now. Tried to rearrange delivery three times, someone was in all day from 7am to 9pm and no one turned up, didn't even bother to give any excuses when I called and email customer services. Apparently they've tried delivery on the fourth day (in the morning, when I've told them about 50 times to deliver in the afternoon as someone will definitively be in), without any warning - unlike them, I can't just take a photo of my office door and tell the boss I was in the office and even left her a card!
        Had to contact the senders and beg them to resend my parcel through a decent company.

        Just received today a parcel for my Neighbour who was not in. He knocked at my door in error, Is this Number 4 MATE (it says 2 on the door) I showed him to the right door. However he soon after returned as neighbour was not in . 'Would you take this MATE' Courier was impatient, and literally snatched the signature pad out of my hand while I was signing it . No Thank you, nothing His appearance was also unwashed, shabby , unshaven , undtidy and not the projection of any company I would give future business to . My Business for one will NEVER employ their services. I do not understand what is wrong with customer service in this country, who is recruiting, who is training or do they just not care viewing us, the consumer, as the 'enemy' to be badly treated at all costs. In a recession but do they care? NO.

        A courier company who cannot deliver

        They only get one star because there is not an option for NO STARS. They failed to make a simple next day delivery and failed to let me know - when the sender enquired, the sender was told they had to send out another driver to help as they were very busy but it would arrive by 17.30. It didn't. The tracking, put on at 19.19, said it was returned to depot after an unsuccessful delivery attempt. They never got to me! SO they tell lies on their tracking! I phoned and asked for NEXT DAY delivery which was Saturday, but of course they were totally inflexible and said that was not possible. It was a bank holiday weekend, ( htey can't have had that on their calendar, hence being 'very busy' and unable to cope) but their customer service lady. Hayley, promised it would be with me in the MORNING on the following Tuesday so I wouldn't have to waste another day out of my life waiting in for a WHOLE DAY for nothing. SHe also said she and her manager would monitor its progress on Tuesday and phone me to check on its arrival. SHE DID NOTHING. WHY SAY IT THEN?????? In spite of me making repeated phone calls that Tuesday, they only managed to get it to me at 14.35!!!!

        They are just hopeless. I sent several emails to customer service and eventually ONE phone call from them promised action. I got NO ACTION but just another email saying 'CASE CLOSED'. So not only can they not deliver a Next Day service, but they cannot deal with the consequences of their failure! I have told them that whenever I order online, I will find out which courier service the company uses. If its Citylink, I will tell them that either they use someone else or I will not order from them!

        If all Citylink's dissatisfied customers did that, maybe they would do something about their appalling 'service'.

        Absolutely Woeful, Avoid At All Costs.

        So, a few short months ago I sent a parcel via City Link next day service, from Birmingham to Devon, after the parcel went missing, and following 7 calls to City Links inappropriately named "Customer Services" (Yes, 7 calls, because despite their promises to return calls & update, they never do) The parcel was finally delivered almost 11 WEEKS later, only about 70 days overdue. Naturally i vowed never to use them again, and haven't, however i have no real control over someone less informed using them to send something to me. Xhexk out my tracking number on P2G, its P2G9877268, this was also a next day delivery, apparently the parcel is now on its way to the delivery depot, where it arrived 2 days ago!?. Now though ? no-one knows where it is.

        You really couldn't overstate how awful City-Link are, They lie to you, they mislead you, and finally, when asked a simple question, they ignore you, they're abysmal in every single respect, You've been warned.
