Advantages: Absolutely a big fat zero
Disadvantages: Where do I begin?
Oh if only I could write this review and leave not ONE star highlighted, I would!
Who on earth would use Initial Citylink as a courier service? If I owned my own business, I most certainly wouldn't ...
My tale of woe is thus:
I purchased an item online recently and unbeknown to me, they were using Initial Citylink. Despite there being someone at home all that day, there was no attempt at delivery (i.e. knocking the door - now there's a novel idea for a courier service, eh?!) and a card was posted through with limited details available.
After attempts the next day to speak to someone in their Customer Services Department who had a modicum of sense or initiative (because I needed them to deliver to an alternative address after their lacklustre service), I was advised to telephone the company I had purchased from.
This is when Initial Citylink's ploy became all too clear ... the company that dispatches the item for delivery has to pay ANOTHER fee if they can't deliver to the customer that first time round. What a fantastic moneymaking scheme ... and the company that you purchase from will probably not get your repeat business because after all, we will blame them for using such a shoddy courier service!
Eventually my item was safely delivered (some 5 days after their "initial attempt at delivery") and with absolutely no thanks to Initial Citylink.
Avoid their green and yellow delivery service at all costs - its an absolute rip-off and we, the customers, end up having to pay extra for our items because of their lowlife business tactics.
Win-Win for Initial Citylink but not for us, or the poor companies who don't really understand what they've tied themselves in with.
Summary: Avoid at all costs - businesses, hear our plea!

- 09/04/06 I've only ever had something delivered by City Link once, and it arrived when it was supposed to with no problems. |

- 08/04/06 I had similar problems. Every time I read a review on them it says virtually the same thing. |
