City Link Lost (Stole) My Wii
Initial City Link
Author Name: Biscuit
Initial City Link
Advantages: You get your postage money back from Amazon.
Disadvantages: You don't recieve your parcel when you want, and it takes a week to find out what happened.
I ordered a Nintendo Wii from Amazon on the 22nd of December and paid the £7.65 in order to get guaranteed next day delivery by 1 o'clock on the 23rd.
No parcel arrived on the 23rd and I gave City Link the benefit of the doubt (it was after all Christmas). When the parcel had still not arrived by the 2nd of January I gave Amazon a call and they gave me the number for City Link. This is where the really fun bit starts….
My first phone call to City Link resulted in me being told that the parcel had made it as far as the Gatwick office and would be re-despatched the next day. So I waited until around 5 o’clock the next day and the parcel had still not arrived. I rang City link again.
The second phone call I was transferred to the Gatwick office, which resulted in me sitting with the phone ringing until it timed out. I rang back and explained the situation and was then told that they would try and get a hold of the Gatwick office and phone me back. Shockingly I never received a call back.
The fourth phone call the next day I was directed to the Gatwick office again only for it to time out again. I rang back and explained the entire situation, the woman on the end of the phone was very apologetic and said she would try and get a hold of the Gatwick office and ring me back before the end of the day either way. Again no return phone call.
The sixth and final phone call on the Friday the 5th of January I was understandably a little off with the person who finally answered my call (the phone was busy for about 20 minutes before I even got through). Quite bizarrely this woman asked me to hold for around a minute and returned saying that she had just spoken with the Gatwick office and the parcel had gone ‘missing’, call me cynical but ‘missing’ to me sounds more like ‘stolen’ especially as seemingly every other person who had attempted contact with the Gatwick office had failed and when you consider what was in the parcel around Christmas time….
I was told to get back in contact with Amazon to get a replacement sent out and that Amazon would claim back from city link. Of course by this time Amazon are out of stock. I received a refund of the postage from Amazon following my first phone call to them and will be getting a full refund for the rest. Amazon have been extremely helpful friendly and approachable throughout the entire process. City Link have almost seemed to be an obstacle that I needed to overcome in order to receive my Wii. I’m sure somewhere a City Link employee is enjoying my Wii….
Summary: I will be avoiding City Link where ever possible and urge anyone who reads this to avoid them
