Disadvantages: Non-existent customer services

Amazon may have just committed commercial suicide - they are using City Link. The card said they would deliver again the next day unless I contacted them. Have you ever tried to contact City Link? Don't bother unless you have a lot of patience. So I emailed Amazon instead, to ask them to have the delivery moved to a depot a little closer to home - about 15 miles closer in fact - so that I could go and collect it. Amazon's reply suprised me, they told me that it had been delivered, and that they had proof of delivery! Which was correct when I looked a the tracking information on City Link's web site - but it also showed that the package was back at the depot, waiting to be collected after a second failed delivery attempt. I have no intention of trekking half way across Kent to go and collect it, so it will go back to Amazon, who have now lost a sale, and a customer. Amazon used to use Royal Mail, who may well have been slower and more expensive, but at least they offered a reasonable range of options for collection, for those of us that have to work for living, and who cannot afford to take a day off to wait for a delivery.

Summary: If they deliver by City Link, buy it somewhere else
