Advantages: Good Service, Polite Staff, Work Double Checked
Disadvantages: Keeping promises, crap waiting room
In the past due to previous experiances I have steered well clear of Kwik Fit, to be fair never with the fitting of tyres, but on three seperate occassions I have had to return to have the exhaust they fitted re-checked as it was banging or worse still blowing within days of fitting.
But now we drive a Motabilty vehicle and guess who has the contract for the replacement of tyres.
So having completed around 20,000 miles, with trepidation I took my Vauxhall Zafira in to the Andover Kwik Fit workshop.
To my surprise I was met by a polite man who introduced himself as the manager and took me out whilst he took reading off all 5 Tyres, he then informed me that the front 2 Tyres needed replacing and that he would have to ring for authorisaton from Motability and would I like to leave the car for about an hour or wait, I chose the latter.
Within 5 Minutes the car was on the ramp and 20 minutes after that having signed on the dotted line I was off, my faithin this company restored!
This week however, I managed to get a puncture and so having changed the tyre made my way back to Kwik Fit safe in the knowlaedge i would receive a quality and KWIK service and sure enough once again met by the manager and the same routine of checking all 5 Tyres, the outcome of which was that they would replace the punctured tyre and then move the new tyre and the spare to the front and the front tyres to the rear.
Once again I was offered the chance to wait, but I opted to walk into town for an Hour, when I returned the car had not been touched and in fact the spare was still lying in the car park space where it was checked.
I then opted to take the car home and would return at 2.00 PM when they would swap the tyres around.
At 2.00 PM I returned to find my spare still in the car park and was informed that Motability have not authorised repair yet and he would chase them again, which strangely he did from a back room and not the desk which is normal, and within 5 minutes the car was on the ramp and the work carried out with all the efficiency I had initally expected.
SUMMARY:
You get good service from Kwik Fit, but only if you wait, if you are not there your car drops further and further down the list.
I will not be making the mistake of leaving the premises while my car is there again!

- 10/12/04 Important lesson I've learnt: Make sure you have at least one friend who is involved in the motor repair/service industry!!!
