**~~**~~**~~** Kwik Fit at Sheldon **~~**~~**~~**
It's not one of those places I frequent - I'm an average bird - not that keen on spending money on the car unless absolutely necessary. Don't get me wrong, I love Pete Peugeot but I don't want to waste pennies giving him cosmetic surgery - the most I've spent on luxury for him was a yankee candle car freshener and that was pushing the boat out. Hence, I only spend money on him when absolutely vital to his continuing existence.
Whilst at Crufts (read my lovely review - it passes time and may even help you sleep a little better) mother and I stayed at an Innkeepers Lodge (bloody brilliant place) about 5 miles from the NEC in Sheldon which is somewhere in the middle of the country. I'm telling you this for a reason - bear with me. So, essentially, its 9 am on the fri and we're ready for a day of bargaining and trawling round the dog show when to our horror we discover a flat tyre. Mother declared with her usual exuberance that the day was ruined - ever the optimist - so I sent her inside to ask the bloke where a garage was. Whilst mother faffed around, the tyre was changed, many swear words were uttered and we were ready to venture off to the garage. Cue Kwik-fit - picked purely due to its location.
Located on the main road, even we could spot its massive exterior and obvious blue sign. The car park was ample for my rubbish parking so we dumped the car and wandered in. Playing the ignorant female card, we announced we had a puncture which needed immediate repair and a replacement one that may or may not be attached to the car properly. Perhaps it was my elderly mother who looked like the world had ended, or possibly my eyelash fluttering that did it, but nevertheless 3 men clamoured to help us. After explaining the situation - NEC was waiting, mother impatient, stupid temporary tyre that wouldn't get us up the motorway etc- we needed the puncture done by sun morning. The lovely man said it would be done and we could pick it up before 6 the same day or anytime sat or sun - perfecto!
Not bothering to ask the price, we set off knowing that the problem would be resolved and that the temp tyre had indeed been put on correctly - score one to me - hurrah. Turned out that we didn't get back til very late that night - the lure of alcohol was too much for mother and consequently saturday morning we eventually meandered back to the garage. The same blokes failed to recognise us much to my disgust (surely they don't get that many pathetic northern women crossing their threshold?) and they said it would be done soon. After half an hour, we were becoming a little concerned - mother was getting agitated and commenting on another day ruined - bless her, but at least we were seated at a clean table with the option of purchasing an overpriced Styrofoam cup of hot water (think it was hot chocolate). Finally a bloke announced he'd forgotten and asked for my keys. Dutifully handing them over, the gloomanddoom spokeslady sighed and said I should go watch - for what purpose, I've no idea. Not one to argue, I went out and made small talk with the bloke about the pointlessness of temporary tyres, dogs and the meaning of life.
Once the tyre was on and the poor man had negotiated the other one back into the boot underneath all the crap that I store in my car, I asked how much we owed them. Apparently, he'd forgotten to fix the puncture the day before and that's what we were waiting for, not that he'd forgotten our presence that day - result was a free puncture fix. Gobsmacked, we ran before they could change their mind though mother did worry for the rest of the day that we would be hunted down. We weren't - score two for me. And that's the review - great customer service after not so great tyre service - you decide how great they are. My opinion is, they could have lied, or they could have charged us but instead honesty won and so did we.

Not that I'd recommend a visit, but they were there, we were demanding and ultimately they made my mum happy - a miracle in itself.
