I'm doubtful on their mechanical knowledge (Kwik Fit)

Advantages: Not too slow

Disadvantages: Couldn't spot a rusted out backbox

Well, I really do wonder how much their 'mechanics' actually know about cars. My cars exhaust system was fairly knackered and definately needed a new backbox because it was actually falling to pieces because it was so rusty. I took my car down to the Salisbury branch and asked them to stick it on the ramp and tell me what needed replacing. The answer I got back from the guy was ' The clamp between the catalytic converter and the mid pipe has rusted away so we have replaced it and it is fine now.' Right ok i thought, what about the backbox, I asked them to replace that as I knew how knackered it was (why didn't they spot it?) They did and they also replaced the mid pipe as well because it had had it. Fair enough but the way the guy was talking to me was as if I knew absolutely nothing about cars when he worked for a garage and couldn't even see a backbox needed replacing! I am glad that the system has got a 3 year guarantee on it because when I took my car in for an mot, they gave me an advisory on the exhaust system being corroded which, having crawled underneath the car, it actually is! At the time of the MOT, it had only been on there 4-5 months!

Summary: Not much hope!
