Advantages: they clean your car

Disadvantages: Poor repairs, No attention to detail

Having had the recent misfortune to have been involved in a road traffic accident I entrusted the services of my insurance company Tescos (of whom I have no complaint)
In order to receive the benefit of a 14 day hire car.
The problem was I wad due to go on holiday in 18 days and ideally having the car back before I went would have saved trouble on returning from holiday.
My insurance company offered the services of one of their approved repairers (Renault) this is were things started to go wrong, arrangements were made for my vehicle to be collected as it was not in a legal state for use on a public highway. A sub contractor employed by Renault phoned myself and stated that he would collect the vehicle the following day in total contradiction with the arrangements that had been made earlier. I informed the man on the other end of the phone that the vehicle was to be collected that day. This was obviously going to be a sticking point, as he would not back down. Reluctantly I had to make arrangements for the vehicle to be collected the next day.
So Renault was off to a bad start but the following day and in all fairness my vehicle was collected at the allotted time and without hitch.
After a day or two I contacted Renault who stated that my vehicle was waiting on a couple of parts and had been approved for repair.
The following week and still no sign of my vehicle I again contacted Renault, only to be informed that the employee who was dealing with my vehicle had taken leave and he would return a week later, bewildered I pointed out that the person repairing my car surely could not be the only person capable of body repairs to motor vehicles (in this garage he is)
My next question, will I get my vehicle back before my now rapidly approaching holiday? Answer. I don’t know.
Two days before I was due to leave for my well earned trip I again contacted the garage and to my surprise my vehicle was not ready. I informed the staff member
that I was not due home for another two weeks so I expected the vehicle to be repaired and no storage charges to be placed if the vehicle was repaired in the mean time.
I then contacted Tescos and with a bee in my bonnet I complained as they were allegedly an approved repairer, Tescos again I have no complaint with these done their best and contacted the garage and informed myself that if the vehicle was not repaired on my return home Renault would supply a hire car until completion. (I forgot to mention 14 days had past and I had to pay for an extension for the hire vehicle)
HOLIDAY…………… 2 Weeks later
A letter from Renault and a snotty letter at this, we’ve tried to contact you x7 and so the letter went on.
Out of pocket due to staff going on holiday and now a snotty letter whatever next.
Now I come to the crux of the matter… the repairs. All seemed fine, body repair looked good and home I went.
Until I noticed that a panel next to the dashboard had been removed and not replaced correctly and the central locking barrel in the drivers door was so loose it came out with the key, small problems I know but 5 weeks to repair the rear offside panel and faults that I never had in the first place with a snotty letter greeting me on my return home do not leave me happy with my experience. Attention to detail was not a key concern for Renault and informing customers that their vehicle will not be getting touched this week due to staff members taking leave is not acceptable.
Renault have stated that they will off course repair the faults but if they had just got it right first time I wouldn’t have been so annoyed.
I certainly wont be using them again for any repairs large or small.
