My daughter took her 2004 Mini Cooper to National Tyres Autocare in Truro Cornwall with a suspected puncture. She was quoted £167 for a fitted new run flat tyre. Whilst the car was there the mechanic told her while the car was there he would do the wheel alignment for her which would only take 5 mins. When she went to pay the bill she was told it was £197. Apparently this included £45 for the wheel alignment which she had not requested nor had been quoted for. Thinking this was rather steep we asked other garages who all quoted around £169 for what she had had done. Her partner rang National Tyres and the mechanic accepted he had not given her a quote but assumed that she knew she would be charged for this. Not so! She has no idea about cars apart form the fact that they get her from A-B. Her partner told them that she had only had the car for about 8 weeks and it had a BMW 100 Mini Check before it had been released to her. It was finally agreed that they would reimburse her the £45. It leaves the question that for every one person they do this too how many do they get away with. None of our family will use their sevices again!!. P.S This is the second female in our family that has been done by this firm, my eldest daughter also has an unfortunate encounter with them.
