I have been using Nationwide Autocentre , Holloway Head, Birmingham, for several years running. The reason is that I have always been satisfied with the discounted prices offered as well as the fact of convenient location, close to the city centre and on a bus route. Booking-in can be done online as well as by phone. My most recent visit was in October 2009 to have the MOT and interim service done for my 7 year old Toyota, which came to £253.99 [including MOT £57, Service £99 and discount £34]. The cost of the 4 new tyres fitted and balanced came to about £100, plus wheel trims and brake fluid flush. I have also found the manager and staff at this ... Read the complete review

Today 12/10/09 i took my 2002 punto hgt to have an mot done, i got a deal via a web site for a half price £27.00. I am a retired auto electrical engineer so know the car is up to pass an mot, they could not fault it so instead of passing it, they ripped me off to the tune of £11.55 each side to adjust the headlamps (too low) in fact they were not, the load adjusters were in the middle position, now they are set too high. Even before asking me if I want it done they adjusted them, and then asked me.?? Kwik fit do both headlamps for £10 all in. I have written to head their head office to complain. Also on mot pass it states no advisory notice issued. Oh yes they did. Bunch of idiots don't use them.

Anyone had bad experiences with MOT at Hucclecote Nationwide? I was expecting my car to pass, however it failed on two tyres. The front one had a large cut to the cord and the back one on the same side had a smaller cut and i was told I had probably driven over glass. I was quite surprised at this at the time but let them do the work. It also failed on both windscreen wipers which they said were both split. This is something else I wasnt aware of and could be easy for someone to fake? When I went to collect my car there was a couple in front of me picking up there car and the machanic was explaining what was wrong with there two tyres, the exact same thing as ... I was concerned about noises coming from my rear brakes, so booked the car in to a Nationwide Autocentre for a brake check. I was astonished when they told me there was two to three months' wear left on the brakes.
A week or so later, with the brakes still noisy, I went to another garage where I was told the brakes were metal-to-metal. On complaining to Nationwide they claimed their inspection was entirely accurate, and that the brake linings must have "de-bonded" between the two inspections!
I would never trust any check, or repair, to them again.
