Advantages: Good service
Disadvantages: Haven't found any
I was quite surprised to read about the bad experiences others seem to have had at Nationwide Autocentre. I have used Nationwide Autocentre holloway head branch (Birmingham) several times now and always been very happy with what they've done and the cost.
I need to replace my cambelt - Nationwide autocentres quoted me half what the ford dealership did, so I went with them - no problems after the job.
I needed to get my "Vehicle Speed Sensor" replaced - Ford dealership quoted me "£180 - £350 plus the part (about £35) depending on how long it takes.. some of those can be a real pain to get off". So I phoned Nationwide Autocentres - £54 for part and replacement. Not sure they were too happy having done it so cheap - the man seemed quite annoyed when I came to pick up the car and said "that thing was a real pig to get off" but they didn't charge me any more, and they definitely replaced it as all the problems I'd had with my speedo disappeared after.
Recently took my girlfriends car there for a service (£160 I think & contrary to previous reviewer, cheaper than ford dealership) - they said break pads were worn but disks wern't and it was probably best to wait until the disks were a bit more worn then get the 2 replaced together rather than doing it now. Can't say fairer than that - could easily of told me to get them both done now.
Took my car for MOT there - passed first time, no problems.
So I can only say good things about that branch!
Summary: A reliable and seemingly honest garage for once

- 20/08/09 Well that really isn't good... Sounds like they're quite variable! Think half the thing when ever getting any work done on a car, is to know exactly whats wrong before you take it - my "vehicle speed sensor" issue took a hell of a long time of me googling various forums to find people who'd had the same problem, and then find what consistently seemed to fix it. If I'd taken it in saying "my speedo's gone funny" goodness knows what might of been replaced with no improvement before they finally worked out the source of the problem. They even asked me "How do you know thats whats causing the problem?" - I just said, I knew it was. Luckily, it was! |

- 20/08/09 I had terrible problems with the branch I visited - a free brake check was done, then they didn't assemble the brakes properly afterwards. It cost a lot to repair and could have been very dangerous. |
