I recently used Nationwide Autos for them to service my car. 3 weeks ago I was driving into work only to find that I had a heavy vibration coming from my front wheels and the steering became increasable vague, I immediately pulled over. I rang the RAC and they inspected the car, the RAC technician said have I had ...  Read the complete review

My local branch (Stafford Greyfriars) have always seemed fair. I hate to buck the trend when so many reviewers seem to be rubbishing Nationwide garages. I first took our Clio in a couple of years ago. They stripped down the engine and told me the cam belt had snapped. The cost seemed astronomical so I arranged to tow the car to another garage who charged me about what Nationwide had quoted. And on investigation all the prices I got in were around the £400+ mark. When I offered to pay for the exploratory work Nationwide had done, the manager refused to take any money. Since then they have consistently been friendly, given good advice, fast service and on occasion even done work for free. Can't fault 'em as I originally used a garage nearby who had good online reviews and found them to be sloppy, costly and slow.

DO NOT GO NEAR THEM - THEY'LL RIP YOU OFF!Booked our Ford Focus in for an MOT at their Shoreham-by-Sea (Sussex) garage, and was told the car needed extensive work to pass the MOT at a total cost of £620.00. We decided to get a second opinion and took the car to our local Ford garage. They found no fault with the car, cleaned a part that Nationwide told us had to be changed (at a price of £350), and the car was subsequently passed by two MOT inspectors at Ford. Total price with Ford - £100.00.Nationwide was prepared to rip us off £520.00, tried to play on our fear as well as pressurising us into leaving the car with them there and then, saying we had to make our mind up within 20 minutes. SHOCKING - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I have been using Nationwide Autocentre , Holloway Head, Birmingham, for several years running. The reason is that I have always been satisfied with the discounted prices offered as well as the fact of convenient location, close to the city centre and on a bus route. Today 12/10/09 i took my 2002 punto hgt to have an mot done, i got a deal via a web site for a half price £27.00. I am a retired auto electrical engineer so know the car is up to pass an mot, they could not fault it so instead of passing it, they ripped me off to the tune of £11.55 each side to adjust the headlamps (too low) in fact they were not, the load adjusters were in the middle position, now they are set too high. Even before asking me if I want it done they adjusted them, and then asked me.?? Kwik fit do both headlamps for £10 all in. I have written to head their head office to complain. Also on mot pass it states no advisory notice issued. Oh yes they did. Bunch of idiots don't use them.

Anyone had bad experiences with MOT at Hucclecote Nationwide? I was expecting my car to pass, however it failed on two tyres. The front one had a large cut to the cord and the back one on the same side had a smaller cut and i was told I had probably driven over glass. I was quite surprised at this at the time but let them do ...  Read the complete review

I was concerned about noises coming from my rear brakes, so booked the car in to a Nationwide Autocentre for a brake check. I was astonished when they told me there was two to three months' wear left on the brakes.A week or so later, with the brakes still noisy, I went to another garage where I was told the brakes were metal-to-metal. On complaining to Nationwide they claimed their inspection was entirely accurate, and that the brake linings must have "de-bonded" between the two inspections!I would never trust any check, or repair, to them again.

I went to Nationwide Autocentre in Kettering for my car M.O.T last June as they weren't very far from where I lived. I was surprised when they failed my car on the Windscreen wipers. *** DO NOT USE NATIONWIDE AUTOCENTRE ***I have built a case against them and have reported them to VOSA, Trading Standards, Police and I am currently in discussion with numerous motoring bodies.BE WARNED - THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE MOTOROING INDUSTRY CODE OF PRACTICE. Approximately 5,000 other garages are and they are extremely surprised that Nationwide Autocentre has not subscribed to this.I invite them to defend themselves and post a response on this website. For further details please refer to the following: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1787693

My fuel pump went on my car and Nationwide autocentre quoted me £420 and the part would cost £270. I then spoke to a friend and they said thats well to much so they rang some place who sold parts to this garage to find out that the pump cost £150. So the garage added money onto the part price. I rang the garage and told them...straight away they said oh ok we will charge you £260 for the whole job. They were ripping me off. I then picked my car up and drove it home but on the way my car broke down. I dont think the garage did anything..... DONT GO THERE!!!!!

Took my car in for an MOT on 1st May and it ended up costing me over £200 - whether the repairs were required or not, I don't know, I'm a journalist not a mechanic. What I did find strange was the fact that they said all four tyres were 'cracked' and advised me to get them changed. Strange because two of the tyres were only replaced two weeks' ago by Kwick Fit. I won't use them again.

Normally quite happy with local Nationwide Autocentre but I asked about their 'Fuel Service'. Emissions test before and after, new oil filter and oil and a 'Fuel Treatment' added to the tank. When I asked if the fuel filter change was included?-"No! That is extra."Strange comment. No amount of 'Magic Juice' will clear a clogged/dirty fuel filter and I would have thought that the fuel filter-a key component in the fuel system-would be changed if a fuel service is being carried out.On this occasion I did'nt bother spending my hard-earned cash.Disappointed with Nationwide on this occasion.

Beware of Nationwide!!I notice that a worker for nationwide posted on 7th March for all work comes with a guarantee. Its one thing guaranteeing the work and its quite another getting any work done under the guarantee and i am also based in West Midlands. Got a new engine last September because head gasket went and I have since found out that new engines are not needed in this case but issue is head gasket went 2 weeks ago and they refused to do the work saying that I wrecked my onw engine!! Finally got them to do the work after threatening with solicitors and trading standards. Juast waiting to get my car back.......
