Disadvantages: misinformation, can never get through on the phones, their 'automated 'systems don't work

I have had nothing but bad experiences with Parcelforce. You can't get through on the phones or use the 'automated' options on the phone menus (according to their call centre the phones/automated system have not worked for two months now, but hey, why spend money fixing it?). The call centre employees give inappropriate standard responses without actually helping resolve the problem, and they have given me misleading information twice.

I was waiting for a parcel from America, and when I questioned the 'clearance' charge that cost more than the postage, and also more than the customs fee, they told me that Customs allocate this fee. Customs of course, said that this was untrue, even though I had asked Parcelforce to confirm it twice, clearly, before I rang Customs. Still waiting for the same parcel, I have - as before - not been able to get through on the phones, after being on hold for five minutes the line goes dead, so you have to ring again. It has taken me over 40 minutes of waiting on the phone to get through to parcelforce on these two occasions. Both times the automated options have not worked, even though I have entered all the correct information. The call centre employee told me that they have had problems for two months with both the phones and the automated system - but no one is doing anything about it! This is appalling. when I asked who their regulator was, they told me Royal Mail. I asked again for this to be repeated and confirmed and they told me Royal Mail again. I rang Royal Mail and they told me that this was not true. Another piece of misinformation!

Unfortunately, I have had bad experiences with Parcelforce over many years, but this recent event has just been the icing on the cake. If there is an opt-out on deliveries I will use it in future - it's not worth the pain of going through this rigmarole every time I want to receive a parcel.

Summary: It is not possible to get through on the telephones, and the service is terrible

I'm sorry to hear about your bad time with parcelforce but I have to say you sound as if you've just been very unlucky.....I've been suing parcelforce for a few years now and have never experienced any problems with them at all.....they deliver on behalf of Royal Mail as far as I know too.....Did you get your parcel? x
