Why do mail order companies entrust their goods with Parcelforce? (Parcelforce)

Parcelforce are pathetic! I Ordered an MP3 player from Amazon who despatched it the same day, (Wanted as a Christmas present) their good efforts were wasted however by their poor choice of carrier! I requested delivery to my son's place of work as there is unlikely to be anyone at home during the day. When it failed to arrive I looked at the Parcelforce 'on line' tracking facility, it showed that my parcel had arrived from the national hub to the Manchester depot, (My nearest) gone out for delivery, unable to locate address. (strange as the address of my son's place of work is stored on Amazon's system and has been used succesfully many times in the past) Parcelforce's tracking system then continue's to show my parcel as, return to sender, but then shows it going up and down the motorway from Manchester to the national hub and back to Manchester several times. I emailed them (Parcelforce) and got a reply 2 days later claiming they no longer had it, I replied to say their system showed it to be at Manchester, no reply. I've tried to telephone during office hours but no humans available. Automated response says if your question is not answered by any of the recorded answers, then send them an email - (an assumtion there that everyone has email!) I had aready done that 2 days previously, I'd also emailed customer services at Amazon and to date (4 days later) have had no reply.

Summary: It's ok to say you won't use Parcelforce, but your mail order supplier may use them.
