Advantages: pretty red vans
Disadvantages: unreliable, loses parcels
I have had parcels of books delivered by Parcelforce on many occasions and they really make me annoyed. If I'm not in they leave a card with a phone number so that I can phone them and arrange delivery. When I phone they always try to get out delivering by telling me it would be easier if I collected. I don't drive so that is out! I have waited after rearranging delivery and wasted hours and nothing has arrived. If I say a.m. on a certain day that haven't arrived. Then if I have gone out they have left at a card at 3pm (for example). I do get very frustrated by all this and I wouldn't use Parcelforce to deliver anything. There have been times when I just haven't received my parcels at all. The company I get them from is reputable and it does make me wonder where the goods have gone to on route. I once came home from a meeting and found a soggy, wet, parcel of books that had been tossed over my side gate which is quite high. I assume the pakage was thrown over there so that it wasn't visible from the street. Unfortunately it had been raining and the parcel was literally dripping wet. The only thing that saved the day was the bubble wrap that was round the books to protect the hard covers. Parcelforce is a dreadful service. They don't deliver on saturdays which is really difficult for people who are out all day. Too much stuff goes missing and the staff are unreliable and unhelpful. Maybe this is just Parcelforce in my area, but judging by what I've read and heard about them, I don't think so.
