Advantages: fast delivery

Disadvantages: don't take very good care of your stuff, poor customer service

I will start by telling you my tale of woe.
My partener has gone and bought himself a nice shiny new motorcycle, so aa a nice suprise i decided to buy hime a nice padlock and chain.

Very exciting I hear you say!!! Well if you have ever had a motorcycle you will know they can be fair game for theiving persons,
Anyway I decided to buy it from an on-line auction which I had used before.

I found what I was looking for It was half the price ,almost, of what you would pay in the shop so I bought it.

All went well I paid for it and the postage for it which was £10.00 and sat back and waited for my suprise to arrive. I was suprised that postage was so cheap as the item was rather heavy, so I thought this was good value for money.

About a week later it arrived when i was in the bath I might add, with a load of shampoo in my hair, I ran down the stairs and grabbed the box from the parcelforce man.

It was only when i looked at the box I noticed it was damaged but I thought no more about it at the time.

I finished my bath and went to open the box and there was my new lock and chain. Wasn't my partner going to be impressed!!!

Well he would have been except for one rather large problem , the keys to the padlock were missing and the padlock was locked on to the chain. Not a problem I thought I will ring parcelforce and explain
and maybe they will be able to help.
WRONG!!! I rang them up and explained the situation and they more or less said what did I want them to do about it!

As you can imagine i was not best impressed with this attitude. So they said i had to contact the sender who had to put in the claim, Which i did. About a week later i received a cheque for £20.00 for a new key to be cut, Which I might add is not possible without the security number from the keys which are actually on the keys, they then said well get a new padlock which is also not possible as you cannot remove the l
ock as it is a high security padlock and is not designed to be cut off.

So at the moment I am still £100.00 out of pocket as I have an unusable item and parcelforce are still adamant that £20.00 is adequate compensation which I do not agree with. So I am not quite sure what to do next,
so much for my suprise.

Although they were quite cheap to use and the service was fast I do recommend that you pay extra and send it by recorded or special delivey, which although costs a lot more, if anything should go wrong you have a better chance of getting compensation. Also I suggest you mark the box a fragile if you want to get it in one piece. The box I received was adequatley packaged up but it was obviously thrown about and with it being a heavy item it could not withstand that kind of handling. So I do think they provide a fast service but their care and handling techniques need brushing up on.

I also had stuff delivered to Spain (Madrid) by Parcel Force. I made sure it was all packed well and paid extra for insurance. It was £120 for 3 30kg boxes. All arrived at the destination the next day in one peice. Don't know what to say really, maybe I was lucky?

Parcelforce - don't get me started! They only deliver during work hours - I work. They'll only redeliver within your postal area - I work in the next county. The nearest depot for me is Woking. In Surrey. I live in Buckinghamshire.

Suffice to say. It took me 5 weeks from the date they posted there little "We tried to deliver a parcel...." card through my door until I actually got it.

And then half of it was missing.

We're still waiting.

I sypathise.

I take it nothing extra had been paid for insurance on the item? I always insist on insurance for expensive items on online auctions.
