Advantages: Free phone number
Disadvantages: don't care attitude, lazy
Thinking that Parcel Force are a sub-division of the Royal Mail, you would of thought that they would have been professional but having delt with them recently and reading other peoples comments on them I really have to wonder why they are still around. Before I start, it was reported in the paper at the begining of December 2001 that they are in financial difficulties. My story goes like this. I ordered something from Thailand at the begining of Decemeber and because I needed it by Christmas I decided on the courier service which would mean that I would have it in 4 days..this of course cost me alot more in postage. It was sent out on Friday (7th) and I should get it on Wednesday the 12th. Did I? Yep..your right I didn't! I emailed the company a week later in Thailand who gave me a ref number and went onto Parcel Force website which said 'In Transit'. I called them on there freephone number (one good thing)..but it was constantly busy (another bad thing). Asked someone where it was and they said I would get a call within 12hrs...did I? Nope so called again and once again said they would call back within 12hrs...so gave one last chance and they eventually called me back and said it was at my local depot. A couple of hours later I got a call from the depot saying they can deliever it (21st Dec) or I can pick it up that day (20th). I went down to get it. To cut a long story short. I asked why my 4 day courier delivery ended up taking 2 extra weeks and they said that they delievered it to me on the 12th (original date) and no one was home so they took it back and decided I would collect it. Only problem was...I had no card or nothing to tell me that I was to pick it up. All they could say was 'We have contract drivers that don't leave cards'. All they could say was 'sorry'. So to round up my 4 day delivery: Sent: 7th Attempted delivery: 12th Finally got it on the 20th 4 days tu
rned into 13 days. All they will do is say sorry. Stick to Business Post or UPS, your have more joy with that. Alex

- 23/12/01 I read somewhere recently that Royal Mail are considering dumping or selling off Parcel FOrce as it is loosing money. We shouldn't have to put up with this much longer! |

- 22/12/01 I had similar problems. I sent my daughter a toaster when she was at uni. After 9 weeks of it not turning up, and I had paid extra for a quick delivery, it turned up in a sorting office in Brum. They also, had left no card!! When we eventually got the toaster it was very badly damaged. I will not be in a hurry to use them again. Kim |

- 22/12/01 I have known Parcel Force to open parcels - how do I know they opened them? Because I had bad experiences before and therefore wrapped so well it would take real effort - the parel which was wrapped first in a bag, then wrapped, then ina another plastic bag , wrapped in brown tape - all round, was still opened with stuff missing - Your info is spot on and at this time of year you need to be careful. Excellent op. F) |
