Advantages: Serving Us snail mail
Disadvantages: Parcel delivery
Well Royal Mail's 360 years of service is a long time for any business. I have heard before that it was owned by the queen, therefor any royal mail vehicle caught speeding, could be told to slow down but not be fined or any action for it. But apparently now it is not the queen's service so this doesn't happen anymore.
I have used royal mail quite a lot and they do seam Ok with letters and getting them to you.
They do sometimes dent the packaging on parcels tho and occasionally the goods.
A while ago to post something it was weighed and price solely on its mass, so you could be awkward and inflate a rubber ring and post it costing very little. But now they also price according to size aswel as weight.
I have just posted a 80g item which is a lot smaller than a normal letter size, but its a bit thicker, about 1-1.5 cm, hopefully it will get there on a 1st class stamp. As it fits in the post box fine, so I am hoping it will go.
I do however find the parcel delivery annoying, if you are not in, as they take it back to depot, rather than leave it with a neighbor, so if you live far from the depot it can cause problems, with them only opening for a short time in the morning.
Also, some, not all postmen/women tend not to knock for item if they need signing for or too big etc, and just walk to the door and off again, if it's bad weather, no chance. So if I am expecting a package I will always be ready for the postman/woman.
Summary: Good service, i think it gone down a bit tho

- 17/11/08 They take the post from the post box to the local depot, take it to another depot, sort it again, then someone goes round on a bike and delivers it by hand, and they want 26p for that??? What a rip off. |
