Advantages: Convenient service

Given all of the hassle I have had recently with various courier delivery services who are not only awful as they will not deliver when it is convenient to you but also have their depots n the next town so even if you want to collect the item you will be faced with a fifteen mile journey.

At least with the Royal Mail they have local sorting offices from where you can collect your items, agreed this may not always be convenient for some people who do not drive but you always have the option of having the item delivered to your local post office for collection for which there is a fifty pence handling charge.

One down side to Royal Mail deliveries is that they only deliver the once and then you have to collect but my post man knows to check the neighbours and even in some cases to leave he item in a secure hiding place.

I personally think the postal charges are pretty resonable and there are plenty of delivery options to meet every persons needs and given the huge number of items I have received and sent I can count the problems I have had on the fingers of one hand and still have a couple spare to show the government what I think of their post office closure programme.
