Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Prices going up, missing stuff
I see countless people always complaining about the Royal Mail, maybe i am a spoilt sport but usually i get quite a bit of mail almost every day. Royal Mail obviously is one of the most used services in the UK, sending a letter has never been easier, without it we would have to drop off stuff to our friends with countless traveling. Royal Mail despite what people tend to say do a great job, post your letter or parcel before 5pm and they'll get it next day.
Royal Mail recently upped the stamp prices much to more critical negative comments by the UK and the post offices, 39p for 1st class, 30 for 2nd class. I think the aim is to make 1st seem more appealing. In my area, Royal Mail came around about any time from 8am - 2/3pm. They do a good job although just recently i got a neighbour's letter. I do wonder if someone got mine, would they return it or read it?
I praise the service that they can send a letter but i am not happy with prices going up. I am quite unpleased, with although with some of the Sorry for the inconvenience cards...which i think sometimes post people cant be bothered waiting so just knock once, chuck the card in and go! but otherwise they have waited a while and a driver a couple of days waited and waved me at the window to say they put it on the doorstep. So it depends on alot of things. but i dont like prices going up.
In other words, we have no choice but to use them for a letter - you cant really send it with anything else, and to be honest it ain't that expensive 40p to get a letter in next day, although i think if you want a local stamp to your own town you could be allowed a discount. Royal Mail offer some other good services like registered and special delivery, which i think are too expensive but to be fair when a letter did get lost once they did give money back even without registered or special delivery after filling out a simple form. I once sent in £38 stupid as i was 3/4 years ago through the post in a 20 note, 10 note, a five pound note and 3 pounds selotaped on a card. I sent it off, the person i sent it off to didnt recieve it at all. NO MONEY because someone took it a royal mail worker. I should have sent a cheque or postal order, but to be honest i just didnt want to pay £5 for a piece of paper!
Royal Mail is used by everyone and everyone has their own opinion, buisnesses would praise them hugely, i praise some of their services and am critical of prices going up whilst others lose valuable amounts of money and get ripped off when there item doesnt get to where it was supposed to in time. WIth parcels we have choice you could use City Link, Parcel Force,Intelink Express etc to send but with letters you have to use them - you can't beat them, you have to join them. I think it's great that all your letters come through your letterbox everyday all organized and free of charge, i can see us having to pick them weekly instead so it ain't that bad!
Summary: Royal Mail used to send letters and parcels, upping prices again! for stamps
