Advantages: Quick delivery if it actually gets there!

Disadvantages: Awful customer service & no guarantee it's been received even with a signiture

I sent something using the special delivery service about 6 months ago to the other end of the country. The Royal Mail say it's guaranteed to be there by 1pm the next day which it wasn't. I checked with the person who i sent it to & they hadn't received it. I checked with the Royal Mail & they said it had been delivered but they didn't have the signature as proof so i would have to put in a claim including proof of how much i sent so i needed a bank statement. I must have rung them up at least 6 or 7 times as i was told someone would get back to me within 24 hours so 2 days later i found myself ringing again & was told exactly the same thing that i would be contacted within 24 hours which again i wasn't. The customer service team were absolutely usless.

It took over 3 months for everything to be sorted. They eventually sent me a cheque covering the full amount i sent including the cost of the special delivery service (£4.60). Ever since this i have only sent things that really need to be sent if not i will deliver it by hand at least then i wont have to worry about whether it got there or worry about any 'missing' signatures.

Summary: Avoid unless absolutely necessary
