I've been with royal mail for nearly 3 years now, and i would like to tell you about the services we provide and a bit about them. Well firstly there's 1st class mail which is 'next day post', which costs from 27p then there's 2nd class which is our 2-3 day post, which is from 19p. Then weve got recorded post, which is 1ST or 2ND class postage plus 63p,(which is now called signed for to cause less confusion with our special delivery post). In which with recorded you get a signature on delivery. Then there is special delivery were your mail/parcel is handelled seperately than other mail and is delivered next working day and is also guaranteed to be delivered and signed for by 12 noon on the day of delivery, this costs from £3.60. Also special delivery has a minimum compensation value of £250 and goes upto £2500 you can send items upto 10kg`s for a maximum pice of £19.15 wich is for a 10kg parcel with a value of £2500. Well also let me tell you about our deliveries to, we arrive at the office for around 5a.m. and sort our mail into streets and about 7 am we prep our mail into delivery order,(ie streets and numbers). Then we take the mail out in around 3-5 bags per day and this is what takes all the time up and is almost impossible to finish for our 9.30am deadline. So i hope this information helps you in some way and when you see your postie in the morning give him some leeway.....
