Advantages: tracking website

Disadvantages: not being able to find it when things go wrong

I needed to send an important document to my son in Peru in order for him to start work there. I was recommended by the post office to use their 'track and trace' service. I duly paid the £6.90 to send it and was assured it would be arrive there in approx 2 weeks.

I was given a receipt and told to use the website to check its status. I did this after a couple of weeks and was delighted to see the headline 'your parcel has arrived at its destination', unfortunally, the country it had arrived in was the Philippines and not Peru! I rang customer services and was told there had been a whole consignment of mail wrongly scanned but would be re-scanned in the next couple of days and would arrive there asap.

This went on for another couple of weeks with no luck. I rang customer services a few times, but it was then suggested I put a complaint form in as it had not arrived, and they could not trace where it actually was anymore.

To cut a long story short....i completed a form, sent it off and waited.

My son rang after 5 weeks to say it had turned up. When I checked on the website, it looks like it is still in the Philippines.

Not a very reliable service, and I would hesitate to use it again!

Summary: track and trace service gone wrong.
