Advantages: The service is picking up
Disadvantages: Slow, Torn Packages
I remember when I used to wake up being woken up by the sound of post hitting the floor. I used to love it when I could come downstairs and the post would be lying on my floor. Ahhh those were the good old days. Now I am afraid it is a completely different matter. I don't know if all the readers will agree with me but I know a lot of people will. I am now lucky if I receive my post in the morning. Although it is starting to get better, recently I have been waiting until 12pm to get my post. I know they have been having staff shortages recently but that is inexscuable. I don't really understand why because apparently the rates they pay are quite good. I guess it is because the hours are so bad and you have to be up so early but it does not seem like my postman is getting up early. In case someone doesn't know what the Royal Mail is. It is the British Postal service which we are pretty much stuck with. It has been deteriating recently and is just starting to pick up. They have been putting all these adverts on the T.V to try and encourage people to use the Royal Mail but I don't know why because they couldn't cope with it anyway. A while ago it was taking 3-5 days for First Class post to arrive to my door and a week and a half for Second Class. Things are starting to pick up now though and post is getting to me quicker which is good cos now the freebies I order don't take that long to arrive. Basically I am writing this to tell you my experiences of the Royal Mail and asking you to comment about your experiences. I mean there is not a huge amount you can write about a postal service like it except that you can send anything from letters to packages and it is run by the Queen. A good thing about them is that their customer service is good. I have called them on several occasions asking them where my post was and how long it was going to be and they have told me exactly how long and have
not given me wishy washy answers. I also made a complaint to them and they sent me a pack of First Class stamps. As promised here is a link for a freebie for a Letter Weigher from Royal Mail. I wonder if this will become a regular thing with my postings. http://www.royalmail.com/default.htm Click the At home Button Then Click Easyweigh The about half way down the page click complete this form.

- 05/06/01 I completely agree with your comments. The Royal Mail has been going down hill over the years. |

- 03/06/01 I read this op with interest as I am just about to write to my local sorting office with a copy of a photograph that I took of a package that had been rammed through my letter box so hard, not only had 60% of the packaging been ripped but the inside faceplate of my letter box was on the floor. The postman had arrived well after 10.00am again which is quite normal now and what has happened to 'second deliveries'? In my area, up until about 2 years ago we always had 2 deliveries per day. It seems hard to imagine that if the amount of post we are sending as a nation is increasing, why are the number of deliveries decreasing ? On the whole, Consignia do a wonderful job, but, as with a lot of companies nowadays, the standards of the individuals are not as high as they could be and the amount of damaged packages and letters that I personally have been receiving of late is, sadly, on the increase. |
