Appreciate the Postman I do now (Royal Mail)

Letters arriving late. Letters bent over. Slow. This has been just three of my moans about the postman and the Royalmail lately but never ever again.

I now think that the Royalmails postman does a brilliant job.

No I havent fallen for the postie but had a go at delivering leaflets.

I know it is not the same as being a postman and I only did it the once but it has made me realise just what the postman has to put up with.

Some of the things I found so awkward are gates. Some I could not open, others I found hard to shut and some you had to do weird things to them to get them to budge a bit. A lot of the houses that had gates also had dogs. Its okay to say "hes a softie", "he wouldnt hurt a flea", and the favourite "oh he loves you dear". You dont know what this dog is going to do until he actually does it!

My next and biggest moan was the position of the post boxes themselves. You presume all are like ours at home. Wrong. Some you had to even get on all fours to put through the letter box. Others the springs were so hard you could not open them and when you did they slammed shut so quick that it caught you unawares and you felt so lucky to have your fingers intact still.

The last but most upsetting was the moans. Just putting a pamphlet through the door got me comments of I dont want junk and I even had moans about the weather and the "men working down the road". Not conversation moans mind you but a real dig at me as if I could help the weather.

From now on the postman has my utter admiration and to be honest they are more than welcome to their job.

If though your letter box is only 6 inches off the floor could you not get another.
