They don't always look after you (The AA Breakdown Cover)
Member Name: stubborn_fairy
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: I was once left on the side of the A1 in the middle of the night in freezing conditions by myself. I've been a member of the AA for a while, and been rescued twice. First time, no problems. Second time, however, they gave the job out to a local firm. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. It was January, around midnight, and about -5 degrees, on the A1 towards London my car conked out completely. I called the AA, who said they had no one in the area but that someone would be with me from another company within the hour. Obviously I had to wait on the side of the road, not in the car, as it was by a motorway, and I was freezing and by myself- which apparently is against AA policy. To cut a very, very long story short, four hours later I was picked up by some dodgy company. As I only have the rescue option, he towed me 10 miles up the A1 to the Travelodge and left me, where I had to pay £70 to stay for next few hours of the night, and the next day I had to call a taxi to pick up the part my car needed and fix it myself. In the 4 hours I had waited I could have pushed my car to the Travelodge. Summary: Not as good as people think! |
