Advantages: no advantages, just put a star because I had to for the rating.
Disadvantages: LOADS: car full of broken glass, taking £200 without reason never to be seen again
I have had very similar experience with some of the people on this site.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!
I rented a van for a week. I had to wait for ages for the van to be ready and when I took it, the passenger's side was full of broken glass. The guy there said "oh, yeah the window was broken and replaced", no apologies and no effort to clean it better. I paid the extra amount to redice excess from £500 to £200.
On the first day, at a Homebase parking lot I returned to the van to find it had two minor scratches to the paint. Obviously someone very careless parking or unparking did it. I called andinformed 1car1 and they told me "we will look at it when you bring the car in".
When I returned it I was charged (!) the £200 excess, because I could not prove that I had not made the scratches. The guy who inspected it was actually very rude, he said "oh, no, you destroyed the car!" and when I told him that I did not do it and it was only a bit of paint that came off he said " oh, no this will cost bebcause we do not apply tipex to it, we take it to bodyworks". I just did not know what to say to something like that!
So £200 was taken from my account there and then and I was told I was going to hear from 1car1 shortly and if the cost of the repair is less that £200 I will get some money back. 3 weeks later I had still not heard anything. I rang customer services and was trsferred to the accident and repair department. There I was told that the branch I had hired the car from (Kings Cross, York Way, London) had still not sent them the accident report. I was told the branch would be contacted and then I would hear from them. Another 3 weeks passed and I have still not received anything. I rang the accident and repair department today and I wastold that yes, the branch has sent in the report but now because the weather is bad and the roads are slippery more accidents happen and they do not know when they will have the time to look at the car. I emphasised to them that I did not do the damage and that it was only two minor scratches on the paint.
I am thinking now, after the other reviews I have read that I should not be hoping I will ever get the £200 back... I will NEVER hire 1car1 again. Mayebe they are cheaper than others because they take all this money from their customers (for excess damage) so their finances then add up...
Summary: NEVER BE LURED BY THE CHEAP PRICES. 1CAR1 FEELS LIKE A SCAM

- 06/01/09 Im sorry to hear about the glass on the inside of your vehicle, I would have insisted on another vehicle and not accepted this one.
1car1's policy on accident damage to our vehicles is no different to any other car rental company.
We make it very clear to all customers before you drive away that if the vehicle is damaged whilst in your possesion, it is your responsability until a 3rd party comes forward.
We do not use accident damage as a money making scheme, we aim to repair our vehicles to the highest standard so our customers have a safe, clean, as new vehicle to hire.
Who would be responsible if your own car was damaged at homebase and the culprit didnt hang around? |
