Advantages: Cheap, Website is easy to use

Disadvantages: Customer service needs improving

I hired a van from this company a while ago and although I initially baulked at the excess (which I only found out about once i got to the branch) I was assured that as long as I took care of the van that this would not be effected. As I have previously worked with a contract hire company I knew to check the vehicle before taking it out, making sure I pointed out any scratches I had found and ensured that it was written down on the paperwork before taking it out of the compound.

After a heavy weekend of moving stuff between Rochdale and Leeds (about 3 trips back and forth) the van worked perfectly for the whole term of rental. I made sure that I kept the cab clean and gave the van a quick wash before returning it.

My only real issue was a lack of help with the van on first hiring, with it being the first time I had used a vehicle of such a size it would have been nice to get a few instructions and some help with what to look out for.

And to be honest, the rental was the cheapest I could find and with the price that I paid they exceeded my expectations.

Summary: Don't expect a ferrari for the price of a fiat

Another thing to look for is whether your current car insurance covers hire cars (some policies do). Plus you should look into getting alternative cover to that provided by the hire company as the independent policy will probably cover you better than that offered over the counter.

As long as you are prepared beforehand you can take a lot of the risk out of hiring vehicles.

I remember renting a van and getting charged 500.00 excess for knocking off the wing mirror. I was not impressed so i rented it for another few hours and took it to ford to replace the glass for 10.00..

this saved me lots in the long run, I have now learned to take out extra cover.:O)
