The rooms were extremely bare, although we had one of the cheapest rooms available, it was still quite dreadful. Our room was literally next door to the engine room, too. All night we would heard loud bangs, thuds and other quite concerning noises. I think it is safe to say that we ... more

Premium Review Sun Cruises Line: An Experience - but never again (826 words)

Before sailing for 7 nights aboard the Airtours (Sun Cruises) "Sundream", I had only ever experienced a 2 night mini-cruise. Cruising itself has never been anything that has appealed to me an immense amount, so when I found out that I'd be going on the Panama Pleasures trip for a week, I didn't know what to think. We cruised from 17th to 24th March 2002. Cruising sounds a real luxurious holiday. I guess it can be good fun if you choose the right company and the right shop. However, my case may be an isolated one. We happened to choose the wrong company and the wrong ship. Both were dreadful. Being a last minute booking, we ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Wow what a cruise (140 words)

We planned for 40 weeks to go on the North Cape cruise (norway) in July 2002. It was everything plus more that we expected. The weather was fantastic the food was fantastic and the crew were stars. They could not be more helpful. The cabin that we had was bigger than we had expected and the whole ship (sundream) was very clean. The organisation at the ports was brilliant. The only disadvantage was the age group of the passengers but this shouldn't put younger people off going. There is always someone to talk to even if its the entertainment staff!!! The general cost onboard ship was very reasonable too. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sun Cruises Line: All Aboard the Seawing (1102 words)

In 1995, we decided to take a 2 centre stay holiday. That means that we had a one week holiday at one place and another weeks holiday elsewhere. It was a package deal via Airtours, costing £650 per adult. Children went for half price if accompanied by 2 full paying adults. There was a discount for any other children below a certain age. We decided to have a week on land in Majorca and the other week we would spend on a cruise around the Mediterranean. When our first week was up on land, a coach took us to the Marina in Palma, where we would board our cruise ship, the MS Seawing. We did not board on a gang plank, we boarded the ship on an enclosed ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review A Good Way To Test The Water (1086 words)

A cruise is one of those types of holiday that I’ve always doubted as being for me – all that dressing for dinner and non-stop food. Then of course, there’s the expense, or at least there was. Then along came Airtours with a clutch of refurbished ex-Caribbean cruisers offering holidays pitched firmly towards the traditional package-tour end of the market. We booked an upper deck (outer) cabin. It was still the same twin bed layout that Judith Chalmers wouldn't be seen dead in, but it had square windows instead of a porthole - and advantage of being further from the waterline. The other advantage (or some might think it was one) of an upper deck ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sun Cruises Line: A cruise without the yuppies! (255 words)

I don't like travelling abroad. Too many foreigners. So when I got married, I was in a bit of a spot. Friends of mine had gone to the Caribbean for their honeymoon, but I didn't fancy the jabs. So I thought I'd take a look at a cruise, but thought it would be too expensive. How wrong I was. It was a surprise for the new missus, so it had to be good, and it was. A week cruising the Med, in the best cabin and still less than £800 a piece, all in, flights, food, entertainment. We were on the MS Seawing, not a new liner by any means, but still impressive. The cabin was great, on-suite, dressing area, settee, table and chairs. The other cabins were more ...  Read the complete review
